Drowned is an enigmatic entity that assisted the players throughout Johnisdead. Originally introduced as SKM's ghostly ally, it was later revealed that Drowned is actually the amalgamation of Max and Ben's souls that was once used as Tenebris's conduit. Drowned ceased existing sometime around 2017 as Ben and Max's souls seemingly split apart into individual entities once again.

Story

The exact circumstances surrounding Drowned's creation aren't exactly known. Drowned presumably came into being sometime in early 2011 shortly after Max was kidnapped and ascended by Patrem. After this, Max's spirit was obtained by Tenebris where it presumably merged with Ben's. Drowned was then used as Tenebris's conduit for most of 2011 until Undecim Nocte, when he managed to escape and hide within SKM's computer. From this point onwards, Drowned assisted SKM in his efforts to take down the Lunar Children by providing him with coordinates to The Fishery and the Orchard.

At some point, Drowned created the Lostmemory423 YouTube channel - a channel that seemingly documented their memories in the form of videos. Videos of SKM's journey to the Fishery and Orchard were also uploaded here.

In 2015, SKM used Drowned to distract Patrem on both the Within Hubris Forums and the Internet Detectives Skype Group. This resulted in Patrem over-exerting himself in an attempt to capture Drowned, placing him in a vulnerable position that SKM could then take advantage of to temporarily entrap him. Drowned often accompanied SKM when he spoke with the players, working behind the scenes within Johnisdead.com to keep Patrem and Regiminis at bay. Drowned would also occasionally contact the players in their Skype group or the Within Hubris forums to give them brief updates regarding SKM's plans. Over the course of 2015, Drowned slowly became more and more intelligible in regards to his speaking patterns, relying less and less on ciphers.

Drowned presumably accompanied SKM to The Spire in late 2015. While there, he reached out to the players to give them Thoth's login information so that they could access the Lunar Children Forums. This allowed the players to regain their Ocarina powers and save Tyler before Undecim Nocte 2015 took place. After this, SKM and Drowned escaped The Spire before they were outed as traitors. However, at some point in March of 2016, they were both captured. Drowned was to be offered to Tenebris in exchange for John's soul. Before this could happen, Drowned managed to reach out to the players one final time on Skype and explain more of his and SKM's pasts. Though the players managed to rescue SKM, Drowned unfortunately was given to Tenebris as planned.

Drowned remained in Tenebris's possession throughout the rest of the year and the return of Youshouldnthavedonethat.net. By 2017, however, Drowned split back into two separate entities - Max and Ben. This was presumably due to the effects of the Kill Switch activated by the players, though this event is still unclear. While Max managed to reunite with SKM, Ben was presumably still under Tenebris's control.

Personality

Drowned has a very meek and reserved personality, though it very rarely shows due to his strange existence. Oftentimes, Drowned is in a state where it is difficult for him to communicate.

Alternate Incarnations

Other timeline versions of Drowned.

Drowned's presence within the Astral Timeline isn't exactly known. He seemed to be completely absent by 2015 with Max and Ben's souls already having been split. Instead, Max alone guided the players throughout the events of the Johnisdead Arc.
