Hunter Jarvis, also known as Jie_Lin_HunterL online, is a Lunar Child who first appeared during The Truth Arc. First appearing on the Lunar Children Forums, Hunter was introduced a young man who was raised to be a devout follower of Luna from a very young age. This rigorous study resulted in him becoming admired by his peers and the Elder Children, who offered him a position among their ranks if he killed his father, Jeremy Jarvis. After doing so, Hunter was somehow involved in Undecim Nocte 2015 and the Crescent Moon Necklace. After this, he seemingly disappeared.

Story

Hunter was born in rural Florida in 1998. While the fate of his mother is unknown, Hunter's father, Jeremy Jarvis, was shown to be a proud, loving man. Hunter's only other family was his uncle, the Old Man, though it is implied that Hunter never interacted with him very much - presumably because he was currently looking over the Haunted Cartridge. In 2003, Jeremy Jarvis officially joined the Lunar Children. It is presumably around this time that Jeremy began raising Hunter to be a devout follower of Luna. Over time, Hunter took these teachings to heart, becoming a talented and knowledgeable member of the cult. It can be assumed that Hunter cared for his father during this time, having drawn pictures of his avatar.

At some point, Jeremy and Hunter moved to Ohio so that they could be near The Spire. Here, he befriended sin_yarikh, who was shown the Libro Lunarus by Jeremy. Sin_yarikh joined the Lunar Children as well shortly after this. Hunter later began posting on the Lunar Children Forums under the name "Jie_Lin_HunterL". In his introductory post, Hunter referred to himself and the cult as "the elite" and spoke highly of himself - something his father praised. In Jeremy's introductory post, it was mentioned that the Old Man had passed away at some point. Hunter responded to this, wishing he could have known him better and hoping that he will be able to meet him someday in the Parallelos.

Hunter could be found occasionally responding to other messages on the forums. When the user Hina616 ranted about her boyfriend breaking up for her, Hunter claimed that he must have been a "rather confused individual". When the user Eddie questioned the purpose of Lunar Children holy titles, Hunter informed him that it is possible for cultists to choose not to identify by these titles. Hunter then went on to note that Regiminis nearly did that.

Over time, the Elder Children began considering Hunter as a new potential member of their ranks - partially thanks to Mat's recommendation. Hunter was put through a series of tests and his connections with the Elders grew. Hunter was eventually granted his own personal room in the upper floors of The Spire and he began becoming involved in Elder Children discussions. During this time, Mat's secret meetings with Tenebris were continuing. Thoth eventually discovered the existence of these meetings, much to his own personal dismay. When he brought the issue up to Jinn, she suggested that they allow Mat's meetings to continue while secretly recording them so that they may glean more information about Tenebris. Not long afterwards, Jinn informed Hunter about the situation, claiming that she believed a sect of Lunar Children dwelled in The Spire's basement where they praised Tenebris.

After successfully completing some unspecified tests, Hunter asked for his final task on the forums. The Elder Child Thoth assigned him the task of assassinating his father, Jeremy. Hunter successfully carried out his mission - presumably sometime in early November, 2015. After this, he was granted the title of "Elder Child". On Undecim Nocte 2015, Hunter had some involvement with the Crescent Moon Necklace - likely trusted with watching over it should things go awry as it was noted to be the cult's "ace in the hole". However, for some unknown reason, Hunter instead seemingly gave the necklace back to Tyler, allowing him to escape with it once the players warped him out of The Spire. After this, Hunter disappeared.

The Elder Children later discussed the events of Undecim Nocte 2015 in an IRC, where they discovered camera footage of Hunter entering the basement. Thoth was outraged at this reveal, having trusted Hunter fully, noting that Mat had personally selected him.

Personality

Hunter comes off as a cold individual, never really showing much emotion - something expected of a cultist groomed since birth. He often seems to be quite prideful, boasting of the cult and himself, believing them to be of the elite. It can be assumed that he cares little for emotional connections, having killed his father to briefly attain a higher rank - though this can't be known for certain, as evident by Hunter's childhood drawings of his father.

Jarilo333: "I was about to have my son go on and do one of these as well, so I figured I would do one too even though I am not new, I have been a Lunar Child since around 2003 hahaha! After all, though I am not new, this iteration of the forum is. The most interesting about myself is... well... heck not even about me ha ha. My brother was a conduit for Tenebris link back in 2010 during the first event with the original harbingers link. However the close contact with Tenebris to his physical body, as is with others of the same situation, caused him to go blind in one eye. My son should be around to say hello to you all sometime today as well. So stick around for that everyone!"

It always reminds me that I am part of the elite, and no matter what happens, no matter what anyone says, I am part of the liberation of humanity and will be part of those laughing last in the end. I have never felt much like I am anything special, but then I think of Luna and Father and how I might serve them, and I understand that my purpose is divine and that I am very special much like the rest of my fellow children. May Luna shine on us all, and may father bring us his secrets and blessings."

As of 2 days ago my bf left me "Because this creepy cult shit is too much for me" FUCK HIM he does not understand how important this is and was not right for me anyways. He is cold and alone without the love of mother and does not even realise this. However the expeiance hurt me pretty bad, so I could really use some support from my loving brothers and sister at this time. I wanted to hopefully show him the way and him maybe ascend with me to be with mother together, but I suppose mother has other plans.
