NotAHoax_M12 is a character who first appeared on the Astral Observatory Forums. Fitting the stereotype of the typical nutty southern conspiracy theorist, NotAHoax could often be found posting about aliens, political conspiracies, and secret societies on the forums. In recent years, he has supposedly been up to "something big" as he's become more isolated from society.

Story

Not much is known about Hoax's early life. At some point during his childhood, Hoax supposedly witnessed aliens abduct his mother. The next day, Hoax claimed that the aliens returned to take his father as well. After witnessing this, Hoax fled. This event is what first started Hoax's obsession with aliens and conspiracies. Nothing much is known about Hoax's life after he fled his parent's home. In 2018, Hoax joined the Astral Observatory - a group formed by Nocta that specialized in the discussion of supernatural and paranormal conspiracies. Once the Astral Observatory Forums became active, Hoax became good friends with the other members there - IsocelesAssassin, Moonman, Yuukichan, José, and Kaiden Zoromichi.

Over time, Hoax became a trusted individual in the eyes of Nocta and he was granted access to "The Truth" board. He was also given access to the Subspace - a secret section of Astralobservatory.net that contains Nocta's various Lunar Children teachings. Hoax never seemed to take up these teachings, however, as he remained obsessed with aliens and governmental conspiracies. On October 21st, Astralobservatory.net went offline when Johnisdead.com supposedly stole the site's bandwidth. This resulted in the Astral Observatory Forums also being destroyed. During the site's downtime, Nocta decided that Hoax would not be re-added to the Subspace.

When the players arrived to the Astral Observatory Forums, Hoax welcomed them warmly. Over the next few months, Hoax would discuss various conspiracies with the players and eventually share more of his past. Being absent from both the Subspace and the inner circle of the players, Hoax was somewhat confused when the forums suddenly dropped off in activity in 2019. On September 20th, Hoax took part in the "Storm Area 51" meme event - likely taking it seriously considering his beliefs regarding the government. After this, Hoax went underground, mostly disappearing from the forums and internet as a whole. Despite this, Kaiden was still able to track him down in 2020 and verify that he was safe.

In 2021, BUP claimed that Hoax was attempting to hunt him down, implying that this was the "something big" he was involved in before. On April 23rd, Hoax resurfaced on Facebook with a meme page.

Personality

NotAHoax fits the stereotype of the southern, internet conspiracy theorist. He can often be seen ranting about government and aliens. Hoax has a heart of gold, though, caring deeply for his friends and defending them against those who threaten them.
