M is an odd YouTube channel that has been used throughout Johnisdead. First discovered on March 7th, 2015 during the YSHDT Arc, the M channel is the first canon channel discovered during the ARG. This YouTube channel is unique in that is does not have any specified owner - instead, whoever is currently in possession of Helper's Hat seems to have influence over the channel and its contents.
Story
On March 7th, 2015, the players had first begun contacting Mason on Letschasethemouse. Concerned for his friend Doug who had just been kidnapped by the Lunar Children, Mason attempted to sneak into the cult's headquarters - the Fishery. Concerned for Mason's safety, the players summoned Helper and asked him to enter into the fishery as well. In an attempt to distract the fishery guards, Mason tossed a large rock off into the distance. This ended up striking Helper in the head, killing him. Shortly after this, Mason was spotted by the guards and fled, but not before retrieving Helper's Hat.
Now that Mason was in possession of Helper's Hat, he unknowingly held control over Helper's various accounts, such as his Within Hubris account and the M YouTube channel. The channel made its first appearance the next day on March 8th, when Helper's account on Within Hubris posted a link to the video 02, which represented the fact that Mason was now the players' new Link. Over the next few days, the channel uploaded a few more videos - S and R. These videos seemingly depicted Mason's journey back home after escaping the guards at the fishery.
Around this time, Mason was confronted by IsocelesAsssassin. IsocelesAssassin traded Mason an "Eight of Clubs" card for Helper's Hat. This now gave IsocelesAssassin control of Helper's accounts, which he used to chide the players for their poor behavior on Within Hubris. IsocelesAssassin proceeded to carry out the tasks laid out for him by the Hacker Group. These tasks are seemingly depicted on the M YouTube channel in the videos E and N.
After this, the channel was inactive for many years until 2019. By this point, the players had made a new ally - Moonman. Moonman had just recently been trapped by Nocta. Fortunately, the players had another ally who was willing to help them - GHOSTBABEL. Their help came with a price, however - Helper's Hat. The players managed to recover Helper's Hat by searching through the Subspace of Astralobservatory.net. This gave GHOSTBABEL control over the M YouTube channel, which they would later use on November 1st to upload an old video of Greth titled ʟᴏsᴛ ᴠɪᴅᴇᴏ.
On April 20th, 2020, Pumpkinhead interrupted a conversation between the players and their allies as they were about to break into the Astral Observatory's Subspace with a Data Bomb. After this, Pumpkinhead used the Data Bomb to destroy the Safe Haven Discord Server, cutting off contact between the players and their allies. Thankfully, both IsocelesAssassin and GHOSTBABEL still possessed Helper Hats, allowing them to send the players a message in the form of the videos N and TRANSMISSON. Using this method, GHOSTBABEL and IsocelesAssassin were able to direct the players to a second Data Bomb which allowed them to accomplish their mission.
The channel was also used by TheLaw on April 24th to upload the video L. While TheLaw does not possess Helper's Hat, it is assumed he still holds a degree of control over the channel due to him being a layered being connected to Dawn - the OoC GM who owns said channel.
