Moonman31 is a member of the Astral Observatory and the Astral Timeline incarnation of Greth. After nearly all of the other Astral Internet Detectives were killed in 2018, Moonman infiltrated the Astral Observatory alongside IsocelesAssassin and JosΓ© in an attempt to put an end to Nocta's plans. After joining the Safehaven Discord Server, Moonman became a valuable source of information for the players. In 2020, The Jaegar began stalking Moonman for unknown reasons.
Story
Being the Astral Timeline counterpart of Greth, it is believed that Moonman and Greth both share a similar past. In 2010, Moonman participated in Jadusable's ARG by submitting several videos, though he later left the Within Hubris community shortly afterwards. In 2016, Moonman returned and joined the Astral Internet Detectives and investigated the return of Youshouldnthavedonethat.net. During this time, some of Moonman's submissions seemed to manifest in the Prime Timeline as those of a "Rogue Player" - specifically his submission of the "Song of Healing" on July 10th and the "Song of Time" on July 21st. This led to drama breaking out within the Astral Internet Detectives, resulting in Moonman temporarily leaving the group.
During his absence, Jeremy enacted the Circle of Three - a ritual that Moonman's Prime Timeline counterpart took part in. Since Moonman was not present for this, the Astral Timeline version of the player Mugen Kagemaru took his place instead. Moonman later returned to the group on July 29th. Moonman stuck with the group this time, seeing The Truth Arc through to the end. In early 2017, Nocta joined the Astral Internet Detectives. Moonman and Nocta became good friends. Near the end of 2017, Nocta suddenly left the group. Shortly afterwards in early 2018, nearly all of the Astral Internet Detectives were killed off by an unknown entity. Moonman and the other survivors, IsocelesAssassin and JosΓ©, tracked down Nocta and discovered that he had created a new group - the Astral Observatory. Fearing that he may be attempting to harm more innocent lives, the three infiltrated the Astral Observatory.
Moonman joined the Astral Observatory in July of 2018. When he joined the site's forums, he dropped the name "MFGreth" and first began going by the name "Moonman31". Though he was mainly in the group to try and uncover more information about Nocta, Moonman still befriended the other members there - specifically Yuukichan and NotAHoax. Moonman had a more strained relationship with one user - Kaiden Zoromichi. This was because Kaiden was often the source of ridicule and Moonman's trolling efforts due to Kaiden's stereotypically "weeaboo" behavior. Over time, Moonman and IsocelesAssassin both gained Nocta's trust, netting them entrance into the group's inner circle - the Subspace.
On October 21st, Astralobservatory.net went offline, resulting in the forums being completely destroyed. Nocta blamed this on Johnisdead.com supposedly stealing the site's bandwidth. A few days later on October 24th, the players discovered Astralobservatory.net. On October 31st, the Astral Observatory Forums were restored, resulting in the players communicating with the forum-members for the first time. Moonman welcomed the players, not yet revealed his true identity. On November 11th, Nocta uploaded a video to his YouTube channel that contained some cryptic footage. Moonman used this opportunity to contact the players, assisting them by providing them with a brightened clip of Nocta's video.
Moonman offered to give the players more information should they provide him with a secure location to chat. This led to the creation of the Safehaven Discord Server, which Moonman joined on November 13th. Over the next few weeks, Moonman would explain his past and his experiences with the Astral Observatory to the players. On November 26th, Moonman revealed that he was actually Greth and explained the existence of the Astral Timeline to the players. Around this time, Nocta confronted Moonman by joining the Safehaven Discord Server, leaving him a threatening message. It was around this time that The Jaeger began haunting him, seemingly controlling his mind to some extent.
In 2019, Moonman began exploiting the Astral Observatory servers via hacks. His first move was to steal the video Escape p.2 from the site's servers and upload it to Greth Vlogs. In April, Moonman attacked the forums with a legion of spambots that flooded the boards. On April 23rd, Moonman leaked another video to the players - sacredartifact.mp4. Moonman's most egregious hack occurred on June 5th when he hacked Nocta's forum account and gave all of the players moderator status. This resulted in Nocta disappearing from the forums for a while. During this time, Moonman contributed to Kaiden Zoromichi's video by providing a voice-over. Shortly after this, Kaiden began acting more friendly towards Moonman.
On August 8th, Nocta returned to the forums and announced that Moonman had been banned. In reality, Moonman had been trapped within the Astral Observatory Subspace. Fortunately, the players were able to rescue him with the help of GHOSTBABEL. Their actions left the site unstable, however, resulting in Pumpkinhead being allowed entrance - something Moonman himself was able to witness. The players and Moonman's actions frightened Nocta who then fled the site. Though Moonman had been saved from Nocta's trap, he was still in danger, as it was around this time that BUP began manipulating him and slowly aggregating to him. This was first witnessed on August 31st when BUP spoke to Moonman using Greth's OoC account. These strange interactions continued on October 29th when BUP somehow allowed Moonman from the past in 2016 to speak to the players in the present on Discord.
Moonman returned to normal on April 20th, 2020. During this time, Moonman, IsocelesAssassin, and GHOSTBABEL were ready to initiate their plan alongside the Hacker Group to break the players into the Subspace and regain access to Johnisdead.com. However, this plan went awry when Pumpkinhead stole the Hacker Group's Data Bomb and used it to destroy the Safehaven Discord Server. This resulted in Moonman and his friends losing contact with the players. Though the players were eventually able to re-establish contact with their allies, Moonman began taking a backseat while IsocelesAssassin and GHOSTBABEL led the way. Over time, he began feeling useless.
On October 23rd, Moonman became isolated in his home as The Jaeger continued his hauntings. Over time, Moonman became more and more paranoid due to The Jaeger's presence. On November 12th, The Jaeger taunted the players on the Astral Observatory Forums, claiming that Moonman was now in his possession and was going to be used in some sort of aggregation. Fortunately, Moonman was rescued by the player Xenquility with the submission of SAVING MOONMAN.mp4, which warped Moonman to the safety of IsocelesAssassin's home. Moonman slowly recovered in IsocelesAssassin's home until March 17th, 2021 when he decided to leave out of fear of falling under BUP's control and hurting his friends.
Personality
Though Moonman often portrays himself as a stereotypical internet troll, he is actually very kind-hearted, caring deeply for his friends. He has a very chill attitude towards most things, enjoying Vaporwave and weed. His love for his friends goes deep, as he seems to still hold some sentimental feelings towards Nocta despite his involvement in terrible things. Over time, Moonman seemingly began to feel less useful to his friends, viewing himself as more of a liability.
