Overworld

The Overworld refers to the normal, physical world separate from the Parallelos. It is where the Earth can be found along with most of the characters within Johnisdead.

History

The term "Overworld" was first discovered on November 5th, 2015 on Lunarchildren.com. Here, the Lunar Children explained that the "Overworld" simply refers to the world we all live in. Interestingly, they claim that even the Overworld is its own classification of Parallelos. They also explain that the Overworld can be quickly traversed using a variety of techniques taught through the Parallelos Path.^[1] Within the Lunar Children's legend, it's said that Luna separated the Overworld from the Parallelos on the second day of creation.^[2]

The alternate Lunarchildren.com discovered in 2020 described the Overworld similarly to the original from 2015 - only adding context from the Lunar Children's legend.^[3]

- "Overworld: Refers to our own parallelos."
- "Sub traversing (or jumping): The use of sub parallelos in order to move through a connecting main parallelos (such as Overworld) in usually impossible ways. Similar to the concept of teleportation."

The Lunar Children's legend mentions the creation of the Overworld here.
- "On the second day the people eagerly awaited what glories she would bring next, what glory would they bare witness to in this time of sacred creation. Lo and behold she created walls and barriers, separating us from the chaos of the parallelos beyond and giving this world order. She made the reality of this world and gave it limits so that it might be a safe haven for her children to grow. She created a path that would lead us through what would be called life, and a path that would lead to death. Paths that would take us to many parallels and finally a path that would soon lead to her own parallel. On the second night, she taught those who listened the secret of Wisdom, so that they might know the ways of this new reality, and how to one day step beyond it when the time comes."

- "Our own parallelos. A realm of flesh, earth, and all physical matter. Mother forged the walls of our parallelos in ancient times on the second day of creation, protecting us from that which we could not yet perceive so that we may learn through her teachings and one day visit the realms that lie beyond."
