Johnisdead.com is the main website utilized throughout Johnisdead. This website is owned by the Lunar Children as a portal. Many disturbing images and sounds can be found on the site, which are explained to Deviums attempting to manifest themselves. Johnisdead.com has changed greatly over time. The site has always featured Holes - long series of pages hidden within directories that players must slowly work through. In its current incarnation, these holes are connected through a series of "Path Pages" - long roads players navigate by clicking.

History

Johnisdead.com was created by the Lunar Children presumably sometime in 2014. The site was one of their Portals, meaning it connected to the Parallelos and housed countless ascended spirits. It is implied that Johnisdead.com is a successor to both YSHDT.com and Wayward Horizon, taking the concept of housing digitized, ascended souls to a much larger level. The site is largely governed by Regiminis, who named it "Johnisdead" in order to taunt Tyler.

The site was first revealed to the players by Drowned on May 14th, 2015 - the beginning of the second arc of Johnisdead. This accompanied the reveal that the player John was actually a canon character and that he was dead. Throughout the next few months, the site would occasionally update with cryptic pages containing disturbing images, ciphers, and videos. On June 2nd, 2015, the players were introduced to JanusVR - a virtual reality web browser that allows players to explore web pages through 3d environments. At this point in time, there was only one JanusVR room players could explore - Fakeworld.

On June 17th, 2015, redirect pages were first introduced. When players attempted to access a page that did not exist, they would be redirect through a series of blank pages with disturbing names before finally being sent to one of three different canon sites. On June 26th, 2015, players were first introduced to Holes - long series of pages contained within large directories. Here, players were required to solve puzzles and ciphers to uncover the URL of the next page in the hole to progress.

On July 20th, 2015, Johnisdead.com's redirect system evolved. Instead of simply being redirected through a series of blank pages, players would now be sent to a random page containing a jumpscare. Throughout the lifespan of the site, there would be well over 70 of these pages in total. Most of these pages during this initial flood of redirect pages were archived. However, in late 2015, another series of redirect pages were added to the site that have largely been forgotten.

Johnisdead.com went largely unused throughout 2016, as focus had shifted to Lunarchildren.com and Youshouldnthavedonethat.net. The site wouldn't see any major activity until 2018, when José retrieved the servers it was hosted on. During this period, an image board was added to the site, where players could communicate with one another. This image board was short-lived, however. Johnisdead.com would occasionally see minor updates until August 6th, 2019, when the site went completely offline.

Players were eventually able to regain access to Johnisdead.com by breaking into the Subspace on Astralobservatory.net. On April 23rd, 2020, the site re-opened with a completely new design. Players could now traverse the Parallelos through a series of "Path Pages" by clicking on images. Over time, these path pages expanded, leading players to discover even more holes. JanusVR also made its return, now sporting a multitude of different 3d environments for players to explore.
