Story (Full) 28
The story so far...
In the previous section, a malicious alternate version of Greth suddenly began contacting the players over Discord. Strangely, this version of Greth did not seem to be from either the Prime Timeline nor the Astral Timeline. Additionally, he made several cryptic comments about terms like "Aggregation" and "The Meta". Because the details and circumstances surrounding this version of Greth were so mysterious, the players simply began referring to him as "Greth".
Afterwards, for reasons unknown, a version of Moonman from 2016 suddenly began speaking to the players on Discord. Here, the players learned that Moonman was actually the "rogue player" who submitted the "Song of Healing" back on Youshouldnthavedonethat.net. His submission likely showed up in the players' timeline due to the time-warping nature of the website at the time. Regardless, this submission led to some in-fighting that resulted in Moonman briefly leaving the Internet Detectives in 2016. Due to his absence, the player Mugen Kagemaru took his place in Jeremy's "Circle of There" instead.
Around this same time, a version of Greth from the Prime Timeline began speaking from the year 2016 as well. As we all know, this version of Greth never submitted the "Song of Healing", so he was never cast out from the Internet Detectives. Because of this, he did partake in the "Circle of Three". Additionally, the players learned that he was seriously considering traveling to the coordinates found on Youshouldnthavedonethat.net at one point - the same coordinates that led to a pond near the Fishery...
The "IIIII" account has also remained fairly active. It recently showed the players a mysterious YouTube channel titled "Quiet Family" that contained a few unlisted videos that were uploaded several years prior. Here, a message was left by Max's spirit who claimed that SKM placed him inside the Bullet Necklace so that he could contact the players. He also said that SKM was currently lost in the "Forest of the Masks", though what exactly this meant is unknown... Strangely, this YouTube channel also housed a playlist titled "time fractures" that featured a previously non-canon video uploaded by Tyler.
Meanwhile, the Internet Detectives noticed that their fellow player Wolfcat was behaving a bit strange... His avatar had changed to a distorted Jack-o-lantern. Additionally, a strange locked blog post appeared on his website Meatouchers.com - the same site where his Within Hubris-related webcomic "Weenie-Licked" was hosted. If this weren't bad enough, Wolfcat began treating a small memetic emoji titled "Dream" (
) as though it were a sentient being. He also endangered the lives of several characters by summoning a hurricane with the "Song of Storms"...
While all of this was taking place, GHOSTBABEL informed the players that Yuukichan's presence within Astralobservatory.net was hindering the plan to get the players into the Subspace. Shortly afterwards, Yuukichan's spirit began contacting the players over Discord. Here, she wanted to ensure that the players Wolfcat and Jos were safe. She also cryptically warned that some sort of Jack-o-lantern entity was present... This entity was likely referring to Pumpkinhead - the antagonist of a separate Minecraft-based ARG that the player Wolfcat created a few years prior. Given his orange coloration, it's very likely that Pumpkinhead is the "orange entity" that Moonman witnessed. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything that the players could do to stop Pumpkinhead - they could only hope to brave the aftermath of his arrival on October 31st, 2019...

Story
On October 30th, 2019, the player Wolfcat underwent a sudden change. His avatar changed to an orange, distorted photo of himself and his username was now the name of the players' newest foe - "Pumpkinhead".

The players had known for a while that Pumpkinhead was present and watching them. However, it seems that he had now suddenly gained possession of Wolfcat's account...
Initially, some players believed that this was simply a joke that Wolfcat was partaking in. However, this theory was discarded when Pumpkinhead posted a link to a new page on Astralobservatory.net - "https://astralobservatory.net/wolf", which contained another distorted photo of Pumpkinhead:

Players discovered that this page's title, "ea7z88CmIOw", was a portion of a YouTube URL for a song from Minecaft - "Cat". Additionally, this same upload of the song was "Liked" by the Silentdork account and it featured a comment from Wolfcat that simply read "Dream".
All of this was enough to convince the players that Pumpkinhead was canon. This was something that several players had already been speculating due to Wolfcat's strange and almost antagonistic actions during the previous chapter...
Notice: As you read through this chapter, you may find that many of the powers, habits, and circumstances surrounding Pumpkinhead and his victims are somewhat contradictory and inconsistent. Do not stress too much over understanding the moment-to-moment developments and inner-workings of Pumpkinhead and his victims - an explanation addressing all of this will be provided at the end of the chapter.
With their ally Wolfcat seemingly possessed by Pumpkinhead, players realized that it was now dangerous to openly discuss their plans in the Internet Detectives Discord server. Additionally, the Safehaven Discord server was also unsafe since Wolfcat himself was the owner of it. So, the players themselves decided to create a new Discord server - the "Safest Haven Discord Server.
Meanwhile, Pumpkinhead began chatting with the players in the Internet Detectives Discord server:
Hahahaha
And not the traitor?
Pumpkinhead seemingly implies that Wolfcat is dead - this is possibly why Pumpkinhead now has control over his accounts...
Shortly after this, the player Jos discovers a new page on Astralobservatory.net - "https://astralobservatory.net/yugi". As a reminder, Yugi was the name of one of the surviving Astral Internet Detectives. This page was titled "next" and contained the image "jos.gif". As the name suggested, this image featured a distorted photo of the player Jos. Additionally, this seemed to be confirming the players' theory that Yugi was actually the Astral Timeline version of the player Jos...

After this page was discovered, the player Jos began acting a bit strange...
strange
drrnq://vvv.fmquxra.gmk/fmq/ key
oh ffs jos is got too
we're running out of id's
It seems that the player Jos was now possessed as well... Around this same time, Jos's username changes to "Y?", which likely stands for "Yugi?". This might suggest that they are possessed by an evil version of Yugi...
Pumpkinhead cryptically warns that three of the players are now gone. While this obviously includes Wolfcat and Jos, the third missing player currently remains a mystery. Also, both Pumpkinhead and Yugi make references to the "Final Fantasy" videogame series, with Pumpkinhead posting a disturbing image of the character "Squall" with no face and Yugi making a reference to the character "Cait Sith".
Afterwards, Pumpkinhead posts a distorted screenshot of one of the players' messages:

Concerningly, this message was actually posted in a private Discord server that none of the GM's had access to. Despite this, Pumpkinhead was still somehow able to view and repost it...
Pumpkinhead seems to imply that the third missing player's name starts with the letter "c"...
The next day, the date repeatedly mentioned by both the Rune Entity and Yuukichan arrived - October 31st, 2019. In the early hours of the morning, the Rune Entity posted a video in the Internet Detectives Discord server - "eye.mp4", which featured a board with a triangle shape and runes on it. Additionally, there seemed to be a large hole in its center that the camera slowly zoomed into:
Shortly after this, the Rune Entity posted a distorted photo of the player ADULT_LINK's profile along with the message "O link of old ye are called on one of some heroes of time" - seemingly in an attempt to get this player's attention. Meanwhile, Pumpkinhead and Yugi continued posting cryptic messages on Discord.
First, Pumpkinhead posted the images "threearegone.gif" and "clowns.gif", which are likely meant to be insulting messages directed at the players...
Afterwards, Pumpkinhead taunts the players further, claiming that there is "Room for onemore.gif", followed by a distorted photo of a Jack-o-lantern creature titled "onemore.gif". He also posts a disturbing image of moving legs titled "struggle.gif" and a distorted skull symbol titled "REAPER.gif". Interestingly, this skull symbol originated from the game "The World Ends With You" - a game that the player Wolfcat often spoke about. Specifically, this symbol was used by a group called "The Reapers" who oversaw a game of life and death.
Meanwhile, Yugi posted the following:
This led to the players realizing that the distorted URL he posted a day prior was leading them to the player Jos's personal website - "https://www.josbyte.com". Specifically, the URL posted led them to a hidden page on the site - "https://www.josbyte.com/jos", which was titled "Deceiving" and contained another distorted photo of Jos. The players also found two more hidden pages on the site - "https://www.josbyte.com/jos/jos" and "https://www.josbyte.com/jos/jos/jos", which contained distorted versions of the player ARGdov's avatar.
This led to the Internet Detectives speculating that ARGdov was the third player who was missing. However, upon messaging him on Discord, it seemed that this was not the case. Instead, Yugi was simply toying with the players and their paranoia...
Afterwards, Pumpkinhead posts a photo of a group of distorted individuals titled "organization.gif", claiming that these are "The True Detectives". This might suggest that Pumpkinhead was collecting the players are replacing them with "better" counterparts such as Yugi. Pumpkinhead also posted another concerning image - a jack-o-lantern with the Pokemon "Haunter" carved into it. This is notable because Haunter was the player Circlehunter's avatar at the time...
Around this same time, Yugi initiated a video call in the Internet Detectives Discord server. Here, the player Jos could be seen in a dark room staring at the camera. However, the players eventually noticed that he was blinking in Morse Code, spelling out the message "SOS", asking for help.
The players discuss the possibility of rescuing Jos by using The Ocarina. They eventually settle on the "New Wave Bossa Nova" due to its similarity to a song that Yugi was posting rather frequently.
Shortly after this submission, Pumpkinhead posted an audio file titled "release.mp3".
Around this same time, the player Jos's username returned to normal. It seems that he was no longer under Yugi's control:
ur back
I dont understand anything lol
hows it going?
Good as ussual
Just fine lol
What happened after that?
Nothing weird on my end
Strangely, it seems as though Jos could not remember anything from when he was possessed by Yugi... Instead, he thinks the day simply progressed normally and without incident. Shortly afterwards, Pumpkinhead suddenly banned the player Jos's Discord bot - the same Discord bot that was being used to notify players of new updates on YouTube. This was accompanied with another distorted screenshot - "removed.gif".

The message in this screenshot was originally from the player otherLiam. It was yet another message that originated from the players' private Discord server, implying that Pumpkinhead could still see what was taking place within it...
Pumpkinhead then began taunting the players further, threatening one of their beloved allies - Yuukichan:
SHE IS TOO PURE
SHE IS NOT YOURS
Yuki NO
Stay with me girl
Afterwards, Pumpkinhead posted another distorted photo of Yuukichan - "gone_.gif", leaving the players with the worrying implication that Yuukichan was now gone for good... However, shortly afterwards, he posted a follow-up image - "tosleep.gif", revealing that Yuukichan was fine and was sleeping peacefully. This was accompanied with the message "Ha Ha", implying that Yuukichan was never in any real danger and that Pumpkinhead was simply toying with the players.
sonata of awakening
All Nigth mask
lmao
After making fun of the player Slinky's spelling, Pumpkinead posted a distorted video of a jack-o-lantern titled "gaze.webm".
that he’s been spamming in reacts for weeks
Here, Pumpkinhead implies that he both is and is not Wolfcat. This might suggest that Pumpkinhead is not literally the player Wolfcat. However, the two do seem to have some sort of connection. Shortly after this, Pumpkinhead posted two corrupted textures from the game Minecraft - one titled "wolf.gif" and another titled "CAT.gif", marking another notable separation between "Wolf" and "CAT". However, the meaning behind this is still unknown.
Later that night, Greth became active on Discord. However, this was still a version of Greth speaking from the year 2016 in the Prime Timeline. Here, he simply posted the video "20191029_184954.mp4" - a short clip showing him driving down the road. While this video was sadly not archived, it seems to suggest that Greth did indeed travel to the coordinates of the pond near the Fishery in the Prime Timeline.
Meanwhile, a new video was uploaded to Silentdork that was simply titled "c". This video simply contained a distorted image of a cat:
This video was actually "Premiered" - a feature on YouTube that allows users to upload their videos alongside a livechat. Within this livechat, the Silentdork account posted the following:
This seemed to suggest that there would be more activity from the Silentdork account later that night.
Back on Discord, Pumpkinhead posted an image of a cat-like mask titled "Mask.gif".

The players began speculating that Yuukichan was trapped in some sort of sleep due to Pumpkinhead's previous images. Eventually, they decided to submit the "Sonata of Awakening" in an attempt to awaken her. However, what happened instead was unexpected: Pumpkinhead's username suddenly reverted back to "Wolfcat".
dense
you fucking did it
say something only wolf would say
It seems that the "Sonata of Awakening" somehow broke Wolfcat free from Pumpkinhead's control, allowing him to communicate with the players.
how do we save yuuki
im as lost as you guys
You thought I was possessed?
Wolfcat's username suddenly reverts back to "Pumpkinhead". Unfortunately, it seems as though Wolfcat had never been freed - Pumpkinhead was simply toying with the players once again.
Activity continued into the early hours of November 1st, 2019 when a player asked Pumpkinhead who and what he was exactly. To this, Pumpkinhead simply responded with the following:
Pumpkinhead
"A fleeting dream, but perhaps not forever."
Several hours later, a new video was uploaded to Silentdork titled "ᛇᛇᛇᛇ"

Runes begin appearing on the screen, vibrating wildly. The following runes appear:

Which roughly translate to:
Now truly ᛇᛇᛇᛇ speaks from the speakers chair as no fool had so done before
through deeds and words of high runer's magic ᛇ wooed my way from
the killer's one and to the one who hates the sun and her brother who mocks the moon.
A deep voice begins speaking:
((Unintelligible)) You shouldn't seek out the following one. And now, I grant us a vision of the ((Unintelligible)) ceremony infinite ritual.... And without knowledge, the parable of falling. It becomes with those without knowledge. Where is the second one lost in the forest? The third is sleeping in the forest. Once awakened, he must walk the paths again and again before he can be an initiate, and pass the waters.
The video cuts to a room where what appears to be a shrine can be seen. A sketchy drawing of a man sitting in a chair and another man standing across from him wearing a gas mask flashes on screen. The "All-Night Mask" and the "Song of Soaring" can be seen floating above a book along with the following date written in runes:
8/18/2019
The video zooms into the familiar triangular rune board we’ve seen before as a four-fingered hand reaches out of it. The video suddenly cuts to a distorted, green, forest-like environment. Tyler is seen walking along a sidewalk.
The video then cuts to someone turning off a light-switch with more runes appearing:
ᛇᛇᛇᛇ ᚹᛁᛚ ᛋᚻᛟᚹ ᚣᚢ
These runes translate to the following:
ᛇᛇᛇᛇ will show you
Summary
- Given this video's title and the presence of runes, this seems to be a message from the Rune Entity, or "IIII".
- The Rune Entity seems to imply that he's currently speaking from something called the "Speaker's Chair".
- A deep voice begins speaking cryptically:
- The voice warns against "seeking out the following one".
- The voice mentions some sort of infinite ritual or ceremony.
- The voice questions where the "second one" is lost in the forest - likely referring to "II".
- The voice mentions the sleeping "III" individual who is currently in the forest.
- The voice claims that someone will awaken and be forced to continuously walk "The Paths".
- Once the individual walks the paths, they will become an "initiate" and pass "The Waters".
- The events of August 18th, 2019 are shown - specifically the moment in which the players rescued the Rune Entity from Tenebris.
- The same triangular rune board seen previously is shown again - now with a four-fingered hand reaching through it.
- Footage of Tyler walking down a sidewalk can be seen.
This video seems to contain a message from the Rune Entity, as implied by the presence of "IIII" and runes. It seems the Rune Entity claims that he's now positioned in something called the "Speaker's Chair". He also references the events of August 18th, 2019 - the night the players rescued him from Tenebris during a Discord call. After this, a deep voice begins speaking in the video - possibly the Rune Entity's voice.
The deep voice cryptically remarks on several different things... First, it claims that the "second one" is currently lost in a forest. This is likely referring to the individual known as "II" - the one who was previously said to have been behind some "Nullstorms". Afterwards, the voice claims that the sleeping individual, "III", is currently sleeping within a forest.
The voice then claims that someone will awaken and will be forced to "walk the paths again and again". After walking these paths, this individual will become an "initiate" and will then pass through something called "The Waters". What all this is referring to is unknown... However, shortly after this, we're shown footage of what appears to be Tyler walking down a sidewalk. It's possible that these are the paths mentioned above, implying that Tyler himself will "awaken" at some point and begin going through this process. We're also shown footage of a four-fingered hand reaching through the same triangular rune casting board seen in previous videos.
Shortly after this video was discovered, another on was suddenly uploaded - this time on the "M" YouTube channel of all places. As a reminder, "M" was a YouTube channel that was used back during the first arc. It was implied that individuals who possessed Helper's Hat held control over this account and could upload videos to it. This video was titled "ʟᴏsᴛ ᴠɪᴅᴇᴏ". The font suggests that GHOSTBABEL uploaded this video, which makes sense considering they currently possess the Prime Timeline version of Helper's Hat.

The video begins with corrupted and missing footage. The following text appears:
(render failure) video source not found
07:29:16
Greth begins speaking over the missing footage.
Greth: "Hey- Hey guys, it’s me. Uh, I just wanted to make a quick video. Uhh, I am on my way to the lake. Gonna check it out. Uhh, those coordinates that we found. I’m... takin’ the road trip right now, we’re gonna see what it’s all about, we’re gonna see what we can find, uh, buried there in the woods. Gettin’ a little nervous, I’m not gonna lie… I will figure out-"
The video suddenly cuts. There is now video of Greth speaking to the camera as he drives along a road.
Greth: "Hey guys, the journey continues to the lake to find, uh... what’s buried there. Uh… I don’t know what I’m gonna find, or if I’ll even find it at all, but it’s worth a shot. Um, I’m gonna keep you posted through these… well, this will probably be one long video, but, uh... just thought I’d make a quick update. Uh, I stopped and got some gas, got food… I’m about halfway there. We’ll see what happens. I don’t know what to expect, but, uh… hopefully I can get this video up before, uh… well, if anything happens."
Greth laughs as the video begins skipping repeatedly. The video cuts ahead, now showing the road Greth is driving along. He begins speaking once again.
Greth: "You know we’re deep in the shit now. There’s nothing out here..."
The video cuts ahead once again, now showing Greth speaking.
Greth: "As it gets darker out - you can see the sun is setting behind me - I-I start to truly wonder if this was a sane and good idea… I mean, for all I know, I could be going to a location that I think is a game and then it ends up being a place full of actual murderers. That just… I gotta say, it makes me really nervous in reflection. Uhh, I did bring some protect- hold on. One second..."
The video turns purple as the footage cuts ahead once again.
Greth: "-just cows everywhere. Cows and nothing."
The video cuts ahead once again.
Greth: "...So, I’m not, like, inherently stupid… Uh, I did bring some protection. It’s not a huge knife or anything, but you know… just in case."
The video cuts ahead once again. Greth sighs as the video cuts ahead once more.
Greth: "So I have speculation about, uh… by the way, I’m still on my way - the sun is still setting. It’s been about forty minutes, maybe less, I dunno. Time is weird. Um… I’ve been speculating about the "Rogue Greth" who posted the Song of Healing… on Youshouldnthavedonethat.net. Uh, I know there was a lot of confusion on Skype-"
The audio cuts out followed by several jump cuts. The footage returns and it is incredibly dark outside.
Greth: "So, this is about the, uh… final stretch here. I know you can’t really see me. It’s been a long journey and, uh, we are gettin’ to what we came for pretty quick here. Whatever is, uh, at those coordinates."
Summary
- This video seems to be a continuation of "20191029_184954.mp4" from the night before.
- This video contains footage of Prime Greth from 2016 driving to the lake found in the coordinates on Youshouldnthavedonethat.net.
- Night begins to fall as Greth nears his destination, causing him to question whether or not this was a good idea. However, he reveals that he did bring a knife for protection.
This video seems to be a continuation of the footage uploaded the night before - "20191029_184954.mp4". As suspected, these videos were recordings of Prime Greth from 2016 travelling to the coordinates found on Youshouldnthavedonethat.net, which seemed to point towards the location of a lake in the woods. However, as Greth nears his destination, his concerns regarding this plan begin to grow... Thankfully, he claims he's brought a knife for protection at least.
Later that night, Pumpkinhead returned with another disturbing image - a corrupted version of the player Circlehunter's avatar titled "waywardhunter.gif".

Worried for the safety of their fellow player, the Internet Detectives immediately began reaching out to Circlehunter. Unfortunately, their fears were realized upon the discovery of a new page on Astralobservatory.net - "https://astralobservatory.net/circle", which featured the same image. This page's title was also a partial YouTube URL that led to the song "(Don’t Fear) The Reaper" by Circlehunter's favorite band - the Blue Öyster Cult.
After this discovery, Circlehunter seemingly vanished as Pumpkinhead taunted the players. Around this same time, Jos also began acting suspicious once again...
so uh
f in chat for circle
jos posted an eye emoji
For reference, "Everything is great" is an in-joke amongst the Internet Detectives - a suspiciously mundane sentence that was often spoken by individuals who were likely possessed. This all seemed to suggest that both Circlehunter and Jos were once again possessed and working alongside Pumpkinhead.

what songs where
...oh ffs it’s a JUKEBOX jukeboxes have SONGS on them SLINKY YOU SLINKY’D AGAIN
Ha Ha
Boo.
Pumpkinhead taunts the players by making them think that Slinky had accidentally submitted a song by posting a photo of the jukebox. However, he quickly reveals that this was not the case and that he was simply preying on their building paranoia.
On November 2nd, 2019, the player Circlehunter posted a single concerning message:
Circlehunter
"flame"
This seemed to confirm that Circlehunter was indeed Pumpkinhead's third victim - the third player who had now gone missing. As the night progressed, Circlehunter and Jos's accounts both continued posting cryptic messages:
vengeance
we understand
While Jos continued posting cryptic messages and symbols, Circlehunter's posts almost seemed as though they were quotes from something. Unfortunately, the players were unable to make heads or tails of any of this. Meanwhile, Pumpkinhead posted a mysterious image of several hooded figures titled "court.gif".

Afterwards, Circlehunter continued posting concerning messages:
burnin
still burnin
im burnin im burnin im burnin
for you
Some eagle-eyed players later realized that Circlehunter's messages weren't entirely random - they were actually lyrics from "Blue Oyster Cult" songs - Circlehunter's favorite band. Unfortunately, players were unable to discern much meaning from these lyrics other than the general sense that Circlehunter was in pain.

During all of this, some users began suspecting that their fellow player Slinky was about to become Pumpkinhead's next victim.
fucking

...However, Pumpkinhead himself quickly reveals that this was not the case and that the player Slinky was simply trolling.
Pumpkinhead
"Never real. Another dream. It is... contagious. We will all dream together."
Later on, Pumpkinhead continued drip-feeding the players info.

How much do you know about runes?
Interestingly, Pumpkinhead seems to imply that "IIIII" holds no power over him or his actions. However, given the vague nature of "IIIII" as a symbol and a concept, it's unclear who or what this is referring to exactly... Regardless, Pumpkinhead then proceeds to refer to "IIIII" in a rather strange manner, calling it "Eoeoeoeoeo" - with each "I" presumably being replaced with an "Eo". When asked about this, Pumpkinhead responds with "How much do you know about runes?", implying that "Eo" and "IIIII" in general is related to runes somehow.
This wasn't completely unfounded - "IIIII" had previously been associated with the "ᛇ" rune, as seen in the video title "ᛇᛇᛇᛇ". Upon further research, the players discovered that "ᛇ" could be vocalized as "Eoh", "Io", or "Eo". This seems to be the most likely explanation for Pumpkinhead's strange "Eo" comments.
As the conversation continued, Pumpkinhead began acting a bit strange... Many of his messages seemed to almost be comical and memetic in nature.

As if things weren't confusing enough already, "Yugi" seemingly began speaking to the players through Jos's account once again.

Yugi seemingly implies that he now has access to the "Fairy Ocarina" item as well now that the players accidentally submitted it. However, it's likely that he's simply taking this opportunity to taunt the players.
I am you from "beta"
I am what's left from them
What kind of "what's left?"
I won't speak about it.
Yugi confirms that he is from the Astral Internet Detectives and possibly implies that he's the one who killed the others.
In an attempt to wrestle their power back from Yugi, the player Xenquility submitted a video titled "RETRIEVAL.mp4". While this video was unfortunately unarchived, it contained footage of Link retrieving the Ocarina of Time back from Skull Kid in Majora's Mask. This led to Pumpkinhead posting the following:
Pumpkinhead
"Returned your powers from you to yourselves, only for them to be returned back once again. Congrats."
However, shortly afterwards, Yugi's behavior suddenly shifted...
im not possesed
leave me alone
Why would i do that :/
Just like before, Jos's account has returned to normal as he seemingly has no recollection of what transpired while he was "possessed" by Yugi.
Wolf
Circle
hey jos, whats up
See, alive
Unfortunately, this was all yet another trick by Yugi - he still possessed total control of Jos's account. By this point, the players were becoming exhausted - the constant trickery and misleading nature of Pumpkinhead and Yugi were proving difficult to follow and combat. To make matters worse, the player Circlehunter's status seemed to be worsening as well:
burnin for
Song of Storms was played once
Storms probably countered the first
Fuck it, sorry to the future if this doesn't work.
((The "Song of Storms" is submitted.))
((The "Song of Storms" is submitted.))
((The "Bolero of Fire" is submitted.))
Unfortunately, the back and forth between Jos and Xenquility was doing little for Circlehunter's wellbeing. However, as Pumpkinhead returned to taunt the players, his words seemed to clue them in to a potential solution.
Join him in sleep
His sleep is eternal.
Sleep, dreaming.
He sleeps
He Dreams
We spam you with messages all night?
Will you play him a lullaby?
Upon hearing the repeated mentions of "sleep" and "dreaming", the player Xenquility submitted a video titled "AWAKEN". This, too, was unarchived. However, it contained footage of Link waking up the "Wind Fish" in the game "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening". Shortly afterwards, Pumpkinhead once again posted the audio "release.mp3".
Just like before, this seemed to suggest that his control over one of the players had been broken.

While Circlehunter had seemingly been rescued, his result was the same as it was with Jos - he couldn't remember anything that had transpired during his supposed "possession"...
On November 3rd, 2019, Greth contacted the players on Discord - once again speaking from the year 2016.

2016 Greth seems understandably confused about their recording suddenly appearing on the "M" YouTube channel. Unfortunately, when he's asked about what took place at the fishery / pond, he goes offline.
Later that night, Pumpkinhead returned to taunt the players.
Could you not please
This is rather obnoxious and I'm running out of things to say without fullblown spamming

During this conversation, the player Jos seemed to be speaking normally... This suggests that the "release.mp3" that restored Circlehunter also brought back Jos as well. Unfortunately, Pumpkinhead did not intend on allowing this to last... Around this same time, he sent the player Slinky a strange audio file titled "esaeler.mp3".
As the name suggests, this was a reversed version of "release.mp3" - the file that seemingly freed Jos and Circlehunter from Pumpkinhead's control. Confused by suddenly receiving this file, the player Slinky decided to share it in the Internet Detectives Discord server.
Uh
I got Pm'd
By PumpkinHead
By sharing "esaeler.mp3" with the rest of the players, Slinky had inadvertantly submitted it, causing Jos to once again become possessed by "Yugi".
Shortly afterwards, Wolfcat's account became active in the Safehaven Discord server:
Wolfcat
"YUUKICHAN. HE LIES."
Strangely, this message wasn't written with text - it was instead written through a series of "Dream" emotes that each possessed a name associated with a different letter. Players suspected that this was a message from Wolfcat - or at least some version of him.
I will become much more than either.
Mask.
Pumpkinhead seemingly refers to Wolfcat as "A shadow of reality" who is "lusting over a figment of another", though what exactly this means is unknown. He also seems to further correlate the "Dream" emoji with Wolfcat himself, while referring to Wolfcat as a "Mask". This might suggest that Pumpkinhead is currently using Wolfcat similarly to how Tenebris once used John...
On November 4th, 2019, Pumpkinhead posted the following:
Has ᛇ's hunger been satisfied?
No bitch
He still hungry af
And he can eat DEEZ NUTS BITCH
Pumpkinhead openly ponders whether or not "ᛇ's" hunger has been satisfied. If ᛇᛇᛇᛇᛇ and IIIII represent the same individuals, it's possible that he's referring to Tenebris here. Meanwhile, the players began preparing for Undecim Nocte 2019, which was only seven days away. For the time being, they continued pressing Pumpkinhead for answers.
So, have you always been Wolfcat? Or are you a recent development?
But he's only recently become a part of me.
Not yet.
If you’ve always been part of our Wolfcat, then how exactly do you know Yugi, who is from the other timeline?
Pumpkinhead claims that he's always been a part of Wolfcat. This is possibly a meta reference to the fact that he was originally created by Wolfcat for a separate Minecraft ARG. However, Wolfcat's only recently become a part of Pumpkinhead - likely referencing his recent "possession". Strangely, Pumpkinhead seems reluctant to go into detail regarding Yugi's situation - once again alluding to the concept of "dreams".
On November 5th, 2019, Pumpkinhead began forcing a "Discord Role" titled "Orange" onto several different players. For reference, Discord roles are special "tags" that you can assign to Discord users that often grant them special permissions or change the color of their usernames. It seems as though the intent of this role was to paint their usernames orange. However, it instead made their usernames yellow - possibly due to Wolfcat's partial color-blindness. Additionally, he posted a heavily distorted image titled "mistress.gif".

Shortly afterwards, he once again sent the player Slinky the file "esaeler.mp3", presumably hoping that he would accidentally submit it once again.
It's an audio file
pm it to us i guess
((An image containing text reading "BITCH U THOUGHT" is sent.))
It's the reverse release again I'm not gonna fall for it
Thankfully, the player Slinky didn't fall for Pumpkinhead's trick this time around. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to matter - Jos was already once again possessed by "Yugi". Thinking back to a few days ago, the players remembered how submitting something related to "awakening" seemed to restore Circlehunter. Hoping to free Jos, the player ARGdov submitted the "Sonata of Awakening". This had a rather unexpected effect.
Somehow, the "Sonata of Awakening" seemingly allowed Tyler to begin speaking through Jos's account... However, which version of Tyler this is, what point in time he's speaking from, and the mechanics behind this were a mystery.
Yugi
He was
Oh god
He was eating a dead body
was it someone you knew?
But it was you
Disturbingly, Tyler claims that he witnessed "Yugi" devouring the player ARGdov's corpse - presumably ARGdov's Astral Timeline incarnation, that is.
Later on, "Yugi" seemingly regained control of the account and continued chatting with the players.
thats fucking dark
Ascensions involve the digitization of a soul how the fuck does canibalism help?!
A inmortal vessel.
5
"Yugi" claims that he's devouring the corpses of the Astral Internet Detectives in an attempt to achieve some sort of "full" ascension. He believes that consuming these souls will allow him to achieve some sort of power on the level of Patrem without the need for a vessel. Strangely, he ends off his message with the number 5.
On November 6th, 2019, the players noticed that Lunarchildren.com was no longer offline. However, the site now required a password to access. Unable to enter the site, they began prying Pumpkinhead for information.
Now it belongs to the Parallelos.
How would we contact him? His email apparently doesnt exist
Unfortunately, even Pumpkinhead holds no control over Lunarchildren.com - it now presumably belongs to the Parallelos itself. However, he implies that José may still hold some influence over the site. As a reminder, José was "The Archive Guy" - the individual who recovered the Lunar Children servers from the Fishery in 2018 before disappearing. Hoping to contact José, the player Xenquility submitted "Epona's Song". Unfortunately, this didn't seem to have any effect.
Later that night, "Yugi" posted another number - 4. The meaning of these numbers quickly became clear to the players - it was a countdown to Undecim Nocte 2019.
On November 7th, 2019, Pumpkinhead continued taunting the players.
A password?

OH NO

LOOK AT HIS PFP

eff or yu

f or yugi
Bitch you better bring back Jeff
Pumpkinhead suddenly makes a strange reference to a video of Momiji from Touhou. This confusion quickly turns to panic as the players realize that this same character was the player Jeffory's avatar. Further taunts from Pumpkinhead seem to imply that Jeffory has become another sacrifice for Yugi... However, Jeffory himself quickly disproves this, revealing that Pumpkinhead was simply posting a threat.

lemme make a strawpoll I guess
Already decided.

Feed for the Father
...wait is that who you are

After taunting the players, Pumpkinhead posted two images - "myFAKEWORLD.gif" and "myHORIZON.gif" - both of which seemed to reference his origins - Minecraft.
Afterwards, "Yugi" posted another number - 3. Three days until Undecim Nocte 2019.
On November 8th, 2019, a new user joined the Internet Detectives Discord server - Erika_XP💚. Her avatar featured a blonde-haired anime girl wearing a black shirt.

Despite all of the chaos currently taking place within the server, the players welcomed Erika.
is this the spooky "ben drowned" place?
i mean kinda, this is the internet detectives. mostly we play johnisdead here, which is the continuation of Ben Drowned.
I think I remember silentdork mentioning johnisdead a while back
I actually came here for silentdork
Where did you hear about Silentdork?
I have some friends from ecuador that mentioned him and then I started watching his videos on youtube.
Am I being vetted, am I awkward?
Erika claims that she discovered Silentdork thanks to some friends she has in Ecuador, though she seems rather uninformed on the larger story of Johnisdead. Despite this, it's clear that she's a rather big fan of the ARG - especially Tyler himself.
Me: nothing
Tyler: breathes
me: amazing, beautiful, gorgeous breath takingly inspiring for all generations!
So is there a way to talk to Silentdork?
sorry if I am being annoying
And no, don’t worry I’m three times more anoying
The next day on November 9th, 2019, Erika found that her username had been changed to the color orange - much like many other players within the server.
Oh bugger I messed that one up
What in the world is going on in here?
Oh boy, welcome newbie. Currently we have a small situation where two veterans have been possessed by ghosts and one of ‘em is trying to eat all of us.
What is this colour change?
I think the color change means we’ve been consumed or something
I have never once heard Tyler speak of such a thing as this pumpkin fellow so I can’t imagine where he gained such dominion from.
I wont be frightened by this event. I just hope tyler is doing alright. But what in the hell is this pumpkin head doing?
Ok I think I typed that poorly there maybe I am a little frightened by this late halloween event
Erika seems a bit confused by the existence of Pumpkinhead, and understandably so - Pumpkinhead and his possessed minions appeared very suddenly and without much explanation... In fact, this entire series of events had left the players very confused and directionless due to the ever-changing rules that Pumpkinhead and "Yugi" seemed to follow. However, later that night, something happened that no one expected - Wolfcat's "possessed" account suddenly left the Internet Detectives Discord server.
WOLFCAT JUST
LEFT
Amidst the chaos and confusion, the IIIII account suddenly began to speak.
Before the day of reckoning could come forth I had to take charge of the highest powers to make a clear decree
There are none among you possesed in this charlatans illusion
So this guy has been jerking us around this whole time? No bullshit about us being in his dream or whatever?
I am pretty irrate at how far off the rails things have gone. But now I have taken grip.
What you were experiencing was a game jack, but this is what happens when I slacken.
I dont like having to be so blunt about things
How the hell did pages like /yugi and /wolf happen?
I really am not in the mood to explain that. But HEY dont worry. All wrongs will soon be corrected.
This is again. Completely my fault for not just asserting myself a bit more.
It seems that the entity speaking through the IIIII account was not Tenebris or the "Rune Entity" - it was actually the GM Tyler giving and out-of-character announcement. Shockingly, he revealed that everything the players had been experiencing in regards to Pumpkinhead was all just a gamejack orchestrated by the player Wolfcat.
Notice: Tyler's announcement implies that EVERYTHING involving Pumpkinhead, "Yugi", and Circlehunter's possession was all non-canon. This implies the following:
1.) Wolfcat was never "possessed" by Pumpkinhead - nor was he ever used as a "mask" by Pumpkinhead. It's likely that the player Wolfcat is perfectly fine and that he simply saw an opportunity to insert an old character of his into the ARG.
2.) Jos was never possessed by "Yugi". This means that Yugi's characterization of being a malicious cannibal preying on the Astral Internet Detectives was all a fabrication. The real Yugi has yet to be properly introduced to the players and it's likely that he's far different from the player Jos's villainous interpretation of him.
3.) Circlehunter was never possessed nor was he ever in any danger.
While the players could rest easy knowing that none of their allies were possessed, this still left many questions unanswered. How exactly was Wolfcat able to gain access to Astralobservatory.net and edit webpages on it for his gamejack? If Pumpkinhead isn't the "orange entity" warned about by Moonman and Yuukichan then who is? For the time being, many players accepted that the answer to these questions were muddied in behind-the-scenes drama and miscommunications between the ARG's GM's.
Meanwhile, Tyler continued venting his frustrations in the Internet Detectives Discord server - clearly annoyed by Wolfcat's gamejack.
Are you Tyler?
hold on just a moment guys I am throwing together something special to send them off
what is it?
So say hi to the man behind the curtain.
Well, one of them anyway.
Which I would like to make really clear right now
This has never happened to my knowledge.
Tyler asserts that he's the "one and only" and the "ONE" real guy behind the curtain, hammering in the fact that everything the players just experienced with Pumpkinhead was non-canon. Unfortunately, several players caught strays during Tyler's rant...
(Two hella veteran players just tried to take over the game)
Im sorry if you have had a bad day or something today Mr.Tyler
Im sorry I just did not realize till a few days ago I could technically come in here and talk to you and when I had that revalation I was excited and just wanted to say hello and I am sorry I am so terrible at wording things and have to type such long running sentences
what is it even for?
Erika, it was for secretly talking about things outside of the eyes of the possessed players.
We’ll send you a link if it stays relevent.
keep it all in one group this shit is too complicated as it stands
OK I’ll be honest I really hope you are just being a character or something right now because I am crying
lemme say a prayer for this stupid bitch
Following this outburst, Erika left the Discord server. This left many players a bit disturbed. As an out-of-character GM, Tyler had typically been a very relaxed and easily approachable individual. It was very rare to see this amount of anger and vitriol coming from him. However, many brushed it off as him being understandably upset at Wolfcat's actions. Wolfcat was a long-time player and friend - him suddenly taking control of the ARG and inserting his own lore was very uncalled for.
Shortly afterwards, Tyler finished working on the "something special" he mentioned earlier to send off Wolfcat and Jos - a short video titled "funny_joke.mp4".

The video starts off showing distorted footage of a jack-o-lantern in a dark, corrupted environment. Green forest-looking clips occasional cut in over the footage. The video cuts back to Tyler suddenly crushing the pumpkin. The video begins to corrupt further as it focuses on Tyler's face.
Summary
- This video contains footage of Tyler crushing a jack-o-lantern.
- The video appears strangely corrupted, featuring distorted footage and brief clips of a green forest-like location.
The video seemed to sum up Tyler's sentiment on the whole Pumpkinhead situation pretty clearly. Strangely, the video also contained a variety of distortions that were often found in Tyler's canon uploads on Silentdork... However, players simply wrote this off as a fun stylistic choice.
Around this same time, Erika suddenly rejoined the Internet Detectives Discord server.
What is the source of it? I tried reversing it but could not make it out, I am not an expert with sound like you.
No I am still here I just went offline so I dont have to get tons of pm’s from annoying assholes
Its just a cute skelleton pumkin head man
"orange"
it was not even orange you fucking
IT WAS YELLOW
@IIIII why did he even make a role to turn people orange?
and also I dont know
Unfortunately, it seemed as though Tyler was still quite annoyed with Erika's presence. This only worsened as the conversation progressed:
It might sound weird but I worry about you all the time.
I thought you might like to hear that to cheer you up a bit =]
he’s out of character right now
there are no lunarchildren and the arg is going to be ending soon
For many, this interaction came as a bit of a shock. Not only did Tyler imply that the entire ARG would soon be ending - he also openly stressed that it was all fictional. For the players who were familiar with Tyler out-of-character, he would often pride the idea of immersion and shun the concept of telling newcomers that it was all fake. However, it's possible that his anger caused him to briefly lapse on this idea...
Is there anything running through your head right now that is meaningful or are you just here to be a stupid fangirl
Its ok I understand you are mad because your plan messed up or something I wont make things worse
I guess this means you wont want to see my tribute video I made for you
LMAO
i get this is a shitty day for you but that doesn’t give you the right to act like a dick.
Erika claims that she's supposedly made some sort of "tribute" video for Tyler. However, Tyler's currently in no mood to view it as he continues to rudely push her away. Thankfully, Erika doesn't seem too effected by this:

Well, since Pumpkinhead and Yugi were apparently "Not Real" and "A Lie" we gotta figure out what of the past week wasn’t true.
something like "reality is layered" and then he posted some I’s and then it was deleted later
he says so many weird things in the comment section I can catch if I check every day
I was always too scared to even try to say anything because I know he is not in control of the youtube account and it must be getting messed with by regiminis or something worse
But I still had to keep following close
Hey, uh, various supernatural entities. We can’t tell what’s real anymore. Mind clearing that up?
I guess more specifically I’d like to know the current status of our friends and allies, like Greth, Moonman and Yuuki.
Is the Lunarchildren site being locked down even relevant?
What, if anything, actually happened on Halloween, and what is coming up on 11/11? Who really is Yugi?
I always thought that anime was rather boring when I was really little
There’s a guy named Yugi in the other timeline.
I’d read the story of what’s happended, Erika.
Dont worry I have a good grasp of whats going on. I have been watching silent dork every other day for a year. Greth vlogs recently as well. There was also the lostmemory423 channel.
My friends liked that one a bit more than Silentdork but I thought it was really boring because nothing ever happens hardly ever and when it does it is very sudden and loud.
Though Erika is fanatical about Tyler, it seems as though most of her knowledge comes from YouTube. Interestingly, she recalls an old comment that the Silentdork account once posted in which he claimed that "reality is layered".
On November 10th, 2019, the players continued attempting to piece the current state of the ARG back together. The revelation that everything they had learned about Pumpkinhead and Yugi was false left them in a bit of turmoil... Meanwhile, Erika continued casually chatting with her fellow players.
Later that day, Wolfcat suddenly returned to the Internet Detectives Discord server. His avatar was no longer a corrupted image of Pumpkinhead - it was now a silly-looking cat meme.
just kidding
hello everyong
so like what happened
and i dont wanna give away too much of the behind the scenes jid stuff
but i knew for a little while that pumpkinhead was going to be sort of spiritually brought into the ARG in a few ways
and i took it upon myself to "get into character" and act spooky around halloween while tyler and greth worked on other things
but it got out of hand and i kinda stepped too far into their "territory" i guess
basically all the bullshit with yugi is not canon and was going against their plans pretty hardcore
Jos is still saying he was never Yugi, and that someone must’ve hacked his account and website.
dont blame jos, i was the one that gave him the go ahead for doing spooky things
same with circle, it just kinda happened spontaneously
he stated multiple times he didnt want to interfere withjohnisdead too heavily so he had no mal intent
he just wanted to do spooky things
and at one point yhsdt too
i help make a lot of the spooky pages there
like the hole to find helpers hat a while back
pumpkinhead, yugi, circlehunter
the only pumpkinhead stuff that IS canon is apparently yuuki talking about him
which is mostly greth's department
all of the stuff on silentdork and greth vlogs stuff is canon
ill edit all the gamejack shit out of the timeline later
But uh you are a friendo
it was a dick move
me and tyler have talked it out mostly
i dont wanna detract from the ARG too much
especially right before 11/11
that wasnt my goal to like ruin anything
Wolfcat apologizes for the Pumpkinhead Gamejack, claiming that it was not done out of malicious intent. He claims that he knew the GM's were planning on somehow incorporating Pumpkinhead into the ARG. This explains why Yuukichan and Moonman were seemingly hinting towards Pumpkinhead's existence prior to Halloween. Wolfcat supposedly used this opportunity to play the role of Pumpkinhead himself while the GM's were busy preparing for Undecim Nocte 2019. However, this got out of hand as he began supposedly overwriting the intended lore and plans for Pumpkinhead and Yugi.
Wolfcat once again stresses that the following were not canon:
- All of the lore exposited by Pumpkinhead and his possession of Wolfcat.
- All of the lore exposited by "Yugi", his status as a malicious cannibal, and his possession of Jos.
- Circlehunter's possession.
To hammer the sentiment in, Wolfcat proceeded to upload the following video to his personal YouTube channel - "pumpkinpology".

The video begins with the song "To Zanarkand" from the game Final Fantasy X playing in the background. Halfway through the video, the song "The End" by My Chemical Romance begins playing over the previous song. Throughout the video, various photos and images involving pumpkins fade in as text appears:
Hello Youtube..
I have a confession to make,..
I am a dirty game - jacker
All of the pumpkinhead stuff was not canon to the johnisdead
i took some concepts proposed by tyler and greth and ran with them
it was my undestanding that I had the "go ahead" to create New and Exciting filler
content
but I admittedly overstoop my boundaries and began imposing on things I shouldnt have
i do not know what the true plans for yugi, yuuki, or pumpkinhead truly were
or what they are going to be
im sorry for deceiving you all and derailing the ARG as a whole
please do not blame jos or circlehunter for any of this
i was the one who roped the into this and gave them free reign over something i didnt own
also please do not let this unfortunate event disuade you from enjoying the rewst of the johnisdead
i do not wany my lapse of judgement to ruin something ive helped participate and create in
for nearly five yeras now
so please, lets just put all of this behind us and not have anymore stupid dumb drama
lets all have a happy 11/11

Summary
- This video contains a half-serious half-joking apology for the Pumpkinhead Gamejack.
- Wolfcat reiterates that the Pumpkinhead Gamejack was not canon - he simply took some basic proposed concepts from the GM's and ran with them.
- Wolfcat reiterates that the players Jos and Circlehunter are not to blame for this - only himself.
With the confusion surrounding the Pumpkinhead Gamejack finally put to rest, activity within the Internet Detectives Discord server slowly returned to normal. Though some mysteries still remained regarding the true canon nature that Pumpkinhead was originally going to hold, most were willing to put this uncomfortable meta-ridden drama behind them and look forward to Undecim Nocte 2019.
