IsocelesAssassin, also known as The Gray Man, is the Astral Timeline counterpart of the player CircleHunter. After infiltrating the Astral Observatory in 2018 and proceeding to aid a hacker group in the past using his ocarina powers, IsocelesAssassin resurfaced in the year 2019. Since then he has allied with GHOSTBABEL, and has continued to aid the players in many of their ventures.

Biography

IsocelesAssassin was a member of the Astral Timeline's Internet Detectives and is the respective counterpart of the player CircleHunter. Little is known about his life pre-2018. However, it can be assumed that aside from a few differences, he experienced many of the same events as the players. While a member of the Internet Detectives, IsocelesAssassin recued the entity GHOSTBABEL from the Wyndstrom institute, who hailed from Greth's ARG "I Am 979". This came after GHOSTBABEL's first rescue by the players of said ARG, and earned IsocelesAssassin a valuable ally.

At some point in either late 2017 or early 2018, the Astral Timeline's Internet Detectives were betrayed, leading to most of them vanishing. Only three Detectives - IsocelesAssassin, Moonman, and Yugi - are known to have survived, as well as the perpetrator of the group's downfall. It was then that Isoceles and Moonman adopted their current aliases, with hopes of infiltrating a group called The Astral Observatory led by Nocta, a former Internet Detective. This was done in an attempt to hide their affiliation with the Internet Detectives, as Nocta's prior knowledge of them likely would have affected his decision. Their bid was successful, and the two quickly gained access to the group's inner circles.

Isoceles seemingly got along well with the members of The Astral Observatory, even participating in a long roleplay with Kaiden Zoromichi. He and Yugi, who got into The Astral Observatory through more direct means, kept close ties. Up until Yugi's departure to the past, they seemed to collude against Nocta together, well aware of his sinister motives. On August 24th, 2018, Nocta uploaded two strange transmissions that he accidentally stumbled upon to the Subspace. Isoceles looked further into these transmissions, eventually discovering they were from a hacker group from an alternate timeline. Isoceles contacted the group, and they formulated a plan involving Isoceles' ocarina powers. He was to travel back to the year 2009, where he would install a "transmission device" for the group.

Upon reaching the year 2009, IsocelesAssassin installed the transmission device on a cellphone tower located in the park seen in many of the videos on the M channel. It was then that he tracked down Mason, trading him an eight of clubs card for Helper's Hat. With Helper's Hat in his possession, Isoceles began trying to steer the players in the right direction on the Within Hubris forums, becoming known as "The Gray Man". He often spoke through Helper's account, chiding the players for their infighting and encouraging them to unify.

Isoceles eventually found out that Mason had been trapped in a storm drain. In hindsight, Isoceles believed that the card he gave Mason "cursed" him in some way, leading to his getting trapped. While unable to save his life, Isoceles was able to trap Mason's "essence" in another device given to him by the hacker group. As the song of time wouldn't allow for both of them to return, Isoceles elected to stay in the past with Mason. After a few months, Mason gained the ability to project his thoughts and feelings into Isoceles' dreams. By mid 2010, Mason was able to communicate by flashing the light on his device in Morse code.
