The story so far...

In the previous section, the players failed to rescue Mason from his terrible fate. Desperate for answers, they began searching an expanded YSHDT.com, discovering many cryptic files in the process. One of these files was the "Bomb Plans" - some notes belonging to Doug that seemed to be schematics for a supernatural time-defying weapon. In a moment of foolishness, the players showed these notes to Doug. This enraged him, resulting in him corrupting Letschasethemouse and cutting off contact with the players. This also led to the players losing their ability to use The Ocarina.

Shortly after this, the players were contacted by Mason. However, this version of Mason supposedly survived and was now speaking from the year 2015 though some archaic computer built by Doug. Unfortunately, the players' contact with this version of Mason was cut short with the misplaced submission of the command ".root", which severed their connection with him. With no allies, no powers, and no leads, the YSHDT Arc came to a close. At this point, the GM stepped out from behind the curtain, revealing himself to be the player Dawn. The player Circlehunter was also assisting the GM, having played the role of The Gray Man.

Due to the YSHDT Arc's sudden end, many mysteries remained... Who is "Saint"? Who is the "Grand Child"? What happened on the night of his ritual? What is Vincent's true name? Who is The Gray Man? Why was he traveling to a cellphone tower? What happened to Mason? How was there a living version of him speaking through a computer? How did Doug change so suddenly? What is the significance of the playing cards? What is this mysterious "Portal"? Who is the "Burned One"?

Thankfully, these questions would not remained unanswered forever, as The Man revealed that a new arc would soon begin - one ran by a team of completely different GM's...

Story

On May 14th, 2015, YSHDT.com underwent one final update. The page now contained an ominous image titled "him.jpg" and a message from Rosa:

Rosa

"Escape to the future to return them all."

Shortly after this, Patrem returned to Within Hubris:

Patrem claims that "the boy" is approaching them. Just then, Drown, or "Numbers Guy", rejoined the Internet Detectives Skype group - now going by the name "Drowned".

Back over on Skype, Drowned began speaking:

Drowned

hn is dead

Yshdt you must follow the instructions. I am blind but I can feel them there.

Drowned posts an incomplete message - " hn is dead", which is somewhat reminiscent of one of the first messages sent by Patrem in the previous arc - " o n urn d". Drowned also seems to be urging the players to follow Rosa's instructions found on YSHDT.com. However, Patrem warns against this...

MUGEN DID IT

The player Mugen Kagemaru submits the "Song of Double Time" - the players' first formal act of defiance against Patrem. Enraged, Patrem curses the players, claiming that they are now all damned. Back on Skype, Drowned joins a voice call with the players and begins speaking with a hushed, fearful whisper:

Drowned

Father is very mad

I'm not allowed to talk right now

You did it

I'll show you

https://johnisdead.com/

Drowned shares a new website with the players - one with a rather concerning name... "Johnisdead.com". For reference, John was the name of one of the players. He was a member of the Internet Detectives from the very beginning of the YSHDT Arc, and now this website is claiming that he's dead.

The website itself featured a photo of a street titled "Foggyworld248.jpg" and text that read "WAKE UP". This was accompanied by a comforting yet eerie sounding track...

Back on Skype, Drowned continued chatting with the players:

Drowned

He's hurting me.

Mugen Kagemaru

Who's hurting you?

Drowned

Father

Quiet, he's coming now.

Mugen Kagemaru

Understood

Drowned

((The Song of Unhealing plays along with some loud noises.))

Please don't hurt me.

Please don't hurt me.

Please don't hurt me.

((A loud sound can be heard.))

Father is very mad. I'm not allowed to talk right now.

Please let me go, please stop.

Drowned is in a great deal of distress as Patrem is seemingly searching for him.

Mugen Kagemaru

What is your name?

Drowned

I don't remember anymore.

He's trying to...

((Loud sounds are heard.))

((Drowned can be heard sobbing.))

Mugen Kagemaru

Calm down, we will do what we can.

Drowned

Father is angry.

Mugen Kagemaru

I can see him. The fool.

Drowned

Three are gone.

Father sent three of you.

Wolfcat

Who are the three?

Drowned

I can't tell you.

They were never really there.

Unfortunately, Drowned cannot remember his true name. He also reveals something disturbing to the Internet Detectives - three of their fellow players are gone. He claims that Patrem "sent" these three players somewhere and that they were never truly amongst the players. What this means exactly is unknown.

Drowned

Father will hurt me.

Mugen Kagemaru

Do you think it's worth it?

Drowned

I will do it.

Suddenly, Patrem joins the Skype call and speaks in a deep, booming voice.

Patrem

I HAVE FOUND YOU BOY.

Be quiet, foolish child.

Drowned

((Drowned leaves the Skype call.))

Patrem

I have silenced that boy for now.

I am still in him in this time.

This worthless meat puppet.

GreyouTT

((GreyouTT asks about Drowned's identity))

Patrem

I have silenced the boy

I sent my neophyte first, the grand child, to silence him.

But I must do all myself it seems.

All of you.

Are damned

Patrem claims that he first sent the Grand Child to silence Drowned. However, the Grand Child supposedly failed, forcing Patrem to join the Skype call to silence Drowned himself.

Drowned

((Drowned rejoins the Skype call.))

He's hurting me I have to get away.

Patrem

SILENCE BOY

You have lost fellow detectives now

But

They were never here

Dont worry children

Expect one back soon

But you must find him first

Unknown

((An unknown voice begins speaking through Patrem's account.))

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.

((Loud sounds and corrupted music begin playing.))

Alright... I think I'm safe...

((The man screams as the audio corrupts further.))

Patrem

Sounds

Of his fate

You could not recognize the child?

Fools

In this time

We made him forget

You shall not find him

Patrem plays a recording of one of the three missing players. Though the players are unable to identify who they are, it sounds as though they're being chased by something. Patrem then implies that he's taken this individual's memories and that the players won't be able to find him.

Patrem

The one who is dead

Has words left for you

((Strange droning sounds and whispers can be heard.))

I am through with you children for now.

Be aware.

The grand one is coming.

Regiminis.

Patrem claims that the "one who is dead" has a message for the players - presumably referring to John. He also finally reveals the name of the Grand Child - Regiminis, and warns that he is coming. This entire conversation can be read below:

In the aftermath of the night's events, players began slowly putting the pieces together. They realized that three of their fellow players hadn't been active in quite some time - namely John, Jacob, and Tyler. They began theorizing that these were the three players that were "never really there", as described by Drowned.

On May 15th, 2015, the player Eve began chatting with Patrem in PM's. Here, the players were able to clarify a few things:

Patrem

((Patrem offers to give more information regarding one of the following:))

The one who was taken

The one who died

The one who has forgotten

These options were presumably describing the three missing players - John, Jacob, and Tyler. Players decided to choose the second option.

Eve

((Eve chooses the second option))

Patrem

He will never return

You knew him as Mesic

John

He is elusive

My neophyte, the grand child, is always searching for him.

Patrem confirms that John is dead. Not only that, Regiminis is also searching for him. This seems to imply that John ascended, since it wouldn't make much sense for the Grand Child to be searching for a corpse.

This leaves Tyler and Jacob as the "one who was taken" and the "one who has forgotten", though which one is which is still a mystery.

The next day on May 16th, 2015, Within Hubris once again flared up with activity as a new user named SKM joined the forums. This user spoke in an odd, light-hearted manner and used the character "Max Headroom" as their avatar.

SKM introduces himself as a friend and directs the players to a new page on Johnisdead.com - "https://johnisdead.com/tyler". This page's existence seemed to confirm that Tyler was one of the three missing players. The page itself contained text that read "CONTACT" and "find him", implying that the players needed to seek him out...

That purple bastard and his "neophyte" regimins can't see what I am saying for now but I have to be fast so you better be taking note. There is a lot going on right now you could not begin to understand, you guys really did it with that time jumping shit (who in the bloody hell gave you control of such dangerous shit?). Those 3 were never there to begin with, have you bothered to listen to the beginning of your "theme". The rabbit hole goes deep my friends. If things go as planned I will be setting up a secure communications point with you all on sometime between the 19th and 20th (yes in 2015 because the purple bastard can never be exact in his reference to time)

SKM calls attention to the beginning of the Internet Detectives theme song - the same song created by Tyler and Jacob during the previous arc.

Upon giving the theme a closer listen, players realized that a raspy voice can be heard whispering "John is dead..." around the five second mark. This meant that John's fate had been hinted at five months ago and no one realized it...

SKM promises to contact the players in a more secure manner on either May 19th or May 20th. He also clarifies that he's speaking from the year 2015, confirming that the players were no longer interacting with the past but instead the present-day.

Well you will have to be a bit specific. He has had a handful of neophytes and "grand children".

Ha I'm just pissing about. I know you are talking about ol regimipiss. Well all I know about him personally is that he wasn't always called that, regiminis I mean. He was dedicated really strongly to "The path of parallelos" and all the other various teachings of the lunar children. He was ready to die for the purple bastard. Then father vincent over at the fishery compound up and decided the kid was ready for ascension, by decree of the purple bastard himself.

SKM claims that "Regiminis" is simply a name that was given to the Grand Child - not his birth name. This is similar to Vincent and was hinted at during the previous arc. He also notes that Regiminis was dedicated to something called "The Path of Parallelos", which he implies is a set of teachings within the cult. Interestingly, SKM calls this cult the "Lunar Children", NOT the "Moon Children". This could imply that this is a completely separate cult from the one seen during the events of Ben Drowned. However, at this point, there wasn't enough evidence to say either way...

Tl;dr, the 3 are jayckup, tyler and john.
I can't exactly get to into detail about this but when regiminis hijacked the "portal" as it has been called (the purple bastard is a bit silly with his need to mystify) and called it what he did, it was for a damn petty reason. But it is what it is, john is certainly no longer around and has not been since the accident on 11/11/11.
Tyler is perfectly fine at the moment. However, fuckery from the purple bastard and his children brigade has caused him to forget this whole mess. Worry not, I'll be doing some work soon to make him come out into the open again, just try not to scare the "broskino".
I actually have no intel on this jayckup person other than he was closely associated with tyler and john and vanished some time before the 2011 accident, nor do I have any intel on mason. Doug is still around, but let us just say that a lot has changed since 2009.
I don't think you ever knew vincent before 2015, but I can't be sure since he wasn't always named vincent either and I have no intel on him before that. But since the 11/11/11 bs he has still been doing the same thing, being blissfully un aware of his role as purple bastard vessel (but a little fun fact I know that no one else does, he can't get the hell out of vincent either, and THAT is bloody hilarious XD )

SKM confirms that the three missing players are John, Jacob, and Tyler. He also begins explaining more confusing history regarding Regiminis and the cult:

SKM references the "Portal" previously mentioned by Patrem - the same one that was created by "Saint" and is currently controlled by Regiminis. He reiterates what Patrem said during the previous arc - the name of this "Portal" is somewhat petty and was actually chosen by Regiminis himself. Regardless, the players still didn't know what to make of this so-called "Portal", so they pushed this subject to the side for now.

SKM reveals that John died four years ago on November 11th, 2011 in some sort of accident. Interestingly, he also implies that this was the same date that Patrem became trapped inside Vincent... This seems to suggest that the two are connected. Fortunately, Tyler is still alive, though Patrem has manipulated his mind and caused him to lose some of his memories - specifically those involving the players and the YSHDT Arc. Sadly, SKM doesn't have much information regarding Jacob - only that he disappeared sometime before John died.

Though SKM doesn't know anything about Mason, he claims that Doug is still around, though he's very different from how he was in 2009. This means he's likely still malicious and antagonistic towards the players...

To summarize...

After 2009, Mason was unaccounted for while Doug presumably remained as his altered, malicious form. At some point, Jacob disappeared and hasn't been seen since. On November 11th, 2011, a ritual involving Regiminis took place. However, this went awry when two individuals referred to as "The Burned One" and the "Flying One" interfered. This resulted in Patrem becoming trapped within Vincent. Because of this, Vincent lost his memories. On this same night, John was killed. Now, in the present, Tyler is still alive. However, Patrem has manipulated his memories, causing him to forget his involvement with the players.

Shortly after this, SKM posted the following:

After posting the above, SKM proceeded to edit all of his previous posts so that the read as follows:

SKM

"Catch me if you can purple bastard XD"

SKM had censored all of his posts, hoping to remain out of Patrem's sight. Later that day, Patrem arrived and posted the following:

Fool who dares to mock his god, my sight is without limit. While you may have obscured your words, I can sense you. I test you to tread once more in this domain, and I shall show you why those under me would sooner choose to bleed themselves than invoke my wrath.

lelele so edge

gg bruh, you gon get ignored here too

On May 17th, 2015, a new player named Zack Nelson discovered that Johnisdead.com had updated. The front page now contained text that read "key592", leading them to a new page - "https://johnisdead.com/key592". To be more accurate, this was actually a directory that would occasionally be updated with new files. For now, it contained only two files - a disturbing image titled "_o_n__urned.png" and "fate.txt", which read "February 19th, 2015 Check your notes".

Following the clue found in "fate.txt", players searched their archives for the date February 19th, 2015. Here, they discovered a noteworthy quote from Patrem - "He also enjoyed music. o n urn d. Now he has ascended.". Shortly after this, "fate.txt" update, now containing the full, uncensored quote from Patrem:

Patrem

"He also enjoyed music. John Burned. Now he has ascended."

Just like the Internet Detectives theme song, Patrem, too, was trying to tell the players of John's fate several months earlier. John burned to death and ascended. This heavily implies that John is the "Burned One" mentioned by Patrem - the individual that Regiminis is attempting to capture. This also means that John was the "Screaming Child" who interfered with Regiminis's ritual on November 11th, 2011. This further links the cause of John's death to this ritual and possibly gives an explanation for why Regiminis is attempting to capture his spirit. Before the players could process all of this, "fate.txt" updated once again, now cryptically reading "Too late...".

Johnisdead.com underwent several other mysterious changes. The image on the front page changed to a photo of some power lines. Players also dug into the audio on the page and discovered that its metadata revealed its true name was "@90" by the artist "k3v1n". The text on the page later changed to "RESEARCH", urging the players to dig deeper. This led to them discovering the page "https://johnisdead.com/uploads", which simply contained a simple geometric symbol and the cryptic message "UPLOADED FROM REMOTE SOURCE 8/29/2014 4:44 AM".

Later on, a new file appeared on Key592 titled "firekid.jpg" - a morbid photo of John smiling at the camera. Shortly after this discovery, the image was removed, leading to the following interaction from the players:

ARGdov

you think we might be getting messed with?

Oceanstuck

clearly

A few minutes later, "fate.txt" updated again, now reading the following: "you think we might be getting messed with? clearly", implying that the players were indeed still being watched.

  • A grisly photo of John.

  • A photo of some power lines.

  • The geometric symbol found on "/uploads".

  • A screenshot of "/uploads".

  • A screenshot of "/key592".

On May 18th, 2015, Johnisdead.com updated with text that read "WAITING". Key592 also updated with a photo of the Fishery and the audio file "firekid.wav", which contained another disturbing image of John hidden within its spectrogram.

  • A photo of the Fishery.

  • The spectrogram of "firekid.wav".

Key592 also contained a third file - "i.txt". This file and its contents would change several times as the night went on:

  • i.txt - "one page remains at this moment...You tried but got it wrong...
  • threei.txt - "A brand new name"
  • R I I I S.txt - ". . ."
  • REG I I I S.txt - ". . ."

Someone, or something, was attempting to lead the players to a new page on Johnisdead.com. After some experimentation, the player Wolfcat finally found the correct page - "https://johnisdead.com/regiminis". This page contained text that read "I'M WAITING" and a heavily distorted video of John titled "deadjohn.webm".

Updates on Johnisdead.com continued into May 19th, 2015. The front page updated with some cryptic text - "HERE", "l_nar__il_ren", and "HP/NCLEC/ T:LAHDNOT/URIR.M". Players quickly realized that this text unscrambled to reveal the URL of a brand new website - Lunarchildren.com. For many players, this confirmed that the Lunar Children were indeed a separate cult from the Moon Children.

Lunarchildren.com was in a state of chaos, containing the following message from SKM:

SKM

"Drezzed again you bloody shazbots, you'll have this place back when I damn well please. -SKM"

The page also contained the following video playing on loop:

The video begins with the character "Max Headroom" laughing as the video begins to stutter and cut out.

Summary

  • This video simply features SKM's avatar, "Max Headroom", laughing in a glitchy manner.

It seems that SKM had not only managed to hack into Lunarchildren.com but he had also completely taken it over.

The page "https://johnisdead.com/tyler" had also updated, now featuring text that read "PLEASE STAY ON THE LINE LINK WILL BE ARRIVING SHORTLY", possibly hinting that Tyler was the players' new Link. The page also contained the video "operator.webm" and the audio "linebusy.mp3", as seen below:

The video begins with heavily distorted footage of Tyler as a voice and laugh can be heard.

Summary

  • This video simply features heavily distorted footage of Tyler's face as a faint voice and laugh can be heard.

This page also featured the following text scrolling down the side of the screen:

THE LINK
Father of lies
Save from REGIMINIS
We're stuck here
Give us our Savior
Help us
Our Savior
Save us from REGIMINIS

These seem to be many different voices crying out from help and asking to be rescued from Regiminis. This implies that Johnisdead.com might contain the souls of departed or ascended individuals within it - much like Youshouldnthavedonethat.net and Within Hubris before it. Some of this text also further implies that Tyler was the players' new Link.

Meanwhile, players discovered that Key592 had also updated. The directory now contained "output.wav" - an audio file that contained morse code. This translated to "safehaven", leading players to another new page - "https://johnisdead.com/safehaven". This page contained text that read "GEOLOCATOR" and another puzzle - "/safehaven/???". This seemed to be hinting towards the existence of another page. Associating the three question marks with the three digit number they were just introduced to, the players found the answer - "https://johnisdead.com/safehaven/592". Here, the players found a chatroom where SKM was waiting for them.

ADULT_LINK

hello?

SKM

About bloody time

ADULT_LINK

sorry ._.

SKM

Hello there ^^

Wolfcat

Heyy

SKM

Glad you could make it

ADULT_LINK

hai

GreyouTT

Ey yo what up

SKM

Hello hello hello to all XD

Mugen Kagemaru

Ah, so YOU'RE SKM

SKM

That would be me captain edge

Mugen Kagemaru

...

As promised a few days prior, SKM has contacted the players. After some brief introductions, they get down to business.

ADULT_LINK

So uh, whats goin on?

SKM

Well, a hell of a lot is going on to say the least.

I have made a bit of progress on getting our old pal Tyler back in action.

Mugen Kagemaru

Care to elaborate?

SKM

I broke his computer XD

Mugen Kagemaru

And that was necessary because...?

SKM

Domino effect my friends

I have been keeping a very close eye on the ol shazbot, and he has a lot of important drok he doesn't want to lose.

ADULT_LINK

drok?

SKM

drok=things

sorry I usually talk with some friends who have a off colour dialect.

Mugen Kagemaru

What led up to you needing to destroy it?

SKM

I only drezzed his hard drives

So that he would not have anywhere to put these videos I saw him talking about

Aside from online

Mugen Kagemaru

Define Drezz plz?

SKM

killed

Mugen Kagemaru

Heh

Care to elaborate on the videos?

SKM

Oh yes I saw he had some hilarious satan related stuff on his computer

As well as MAX HEADROOM

SKM explains that he destroyed Tyler's harddrives. Doing this has forced Tyler to archive his videos on the internet instead, which will give the players a chance to contact him. Interestingly, he notes that Tyler had several funny Satan-related videos on his computer - as well as some relating to Max Headroom. SKM also seems to have a habit of using odd words like "drok" and "drezzed" - terms he claims he often uses with some friends.

Mugen Kagemaru

OK so what was so bad about the videos?

SKM

Nothing bad about them to my current understanding

They are just very important to the bloke

they are all he has left of his friends out in meat space before they went perma afk.

Meat space = irl

Wolfcat

You said he was gonna post them online. Do you know if he's done that yet?

SKM

not quite yet

But he should be doing it soon

Mugen Kagemaru

YouTube?

SKM

yep going on youtube soon

"This damn drive is on its least leg, I don't know if I have a virus or a fucking curse but I have no where else to put these videos of john, jacob and kevin."

Mugen Kagemaru

... Kevin

SKM explains that the videos Tyler is wanting to upload are of his old friends - John, Jacob, and a new character - Kevin. Interestingly, Kevin was the name of one of the Moon Children from Ben Drowned. This led to some players speculating that Tyler held some connection to the cult. Perhaps he was even the same "Tyler" mentioned by Alex - the one who visited the Old Man with him in 2010. However, many of the details surrounding this theory felt somewhat contradictory and the players didn't have enough information about Tyler's past yet. Still, it was an interesting detail that they kept in the back of their minds...

SKM

He holds no memory of any of you

This is all thanks to the purple bastard

ADULT_LINK

Hmm. so we should ease into talking to him again

Don't want to scare the shit out of him

SKM

Purple bastard knew he would be of an importance

And wanted to keep him docile till he gets drezzed

SKM reiterates that Patrem has manipulated Tyler's memories, causing him to forget the existence of the players and his involvement in the YSHDT Arc. He also implies that the cult is intending to kill Tyler at some point. However, the players will have to be careful in how they go about warning him and restoring his memories as they could easily come off as insane and scare him away.

Mugen Kagemaru

BTW we saw your handiwork

Nice one

SKM

Handi work?

What are you refering to?

Mugen Kagemaru

The site

Lunar Children?

SKM

Oh bloody hell XD

That

I was gonna show you that first

I guess one of those damn moving balls of code got antsy

SKM confirms that he hacked Lunarchildren.com but is surprised that the players discovered this. He implies that one of the "moving balls of code" edited Johnisdead.com to lead them to Lunarchildren.com - likely referring to one of the many spirits trapped within the website.

GreyouTT

I take it tall dark and purple can't see this?

SKM

Ahhh yes the purple bastard XD

Nope he doesn't know about this just yet

And even if he does

He shant get through my encryption without giving setting off an alarm that will warn me to pack my bloody shit

Mugen Kagemaru

Anyway

About Regiminis

SKM

Right

Him

He is asstrums right hand man atm

ADULT_LINK

lol asstrums

Mugen Kagemaru

Later, Thorin

Business before pleasure

SKM

any time is good for lels XD

Ooooh pleasure

my my my

ADULT_LINK

XD

Mugen Kagemaru

Guys please

SKM assures the players that Patrem isn't able to spy on his chatroom. He says that if Patrem attempts to enter, he'll receive a fair warning thanks to an alarm he's set up.

Wolfcat

Hey, what happened on 11/11/11?

SKM

>11/11/11

>.>;

Some bloody shit

thats what

To elaborate the best I can

A ritual was to be performed that day.

Ascension, but not just of anyone. A few years prior to this they had one rather successful go at it.

Mugen Kagemaru

The Nov 11 Ascension. Whose was it? Chris/Nekko?

SKM

Ah I think he had something to do with the lunar childrens rival group didn't he?

This chris/Nekko man?

Mugen Kagemaru

Nnnnnnooooooo... He was with the purple bastard.

The one we weren't able to save

Wolfcat

The Moon Children vs The Lunar Children?

GreyouTT

Well that blows my mind

SKM reveals that the ritual that took place on November 11th, 2011 was an ascension. He also implies that the Moon Children and the Lunar Children were actually rival groups, definitively confirming that the two groups are completely separate entities.

The clarify, the cult that was present throughout the events of Ben Drowned was the Moon Children. They were led by an individual called Mr. D, who also went by "The Father". They worshipped the moon goddess Luna, used the website Youshouldnthavedonethat.net, and were seemingly connected to a location called The Orchard.

Meanwhile, the cult that first appeared in the YSHDT Arc was the Lunar Children. They're led by Patrem. Though Patrem is NOT Mr. D, he uses the same title - "The Father". They, too, worship Luna. However, they use the website YSHDT.com and Lunarchildren.com. Also, their headquarters is the Fishery and they have some connection to the mysterious "Spire" building.

Details surrounding these two cults and their connection to one another will become more clear over time. However, all that's needed to know for now is that they are indeed two separate groups.

Mugen Kagemaru

If it wasn't Chris, then who was it that was to Ascend on Nov 11?

SKM

This grand one purple bastard has been hyping up most recently.

Mugen Kagemaru

Regiminis?

SKM

I don't know what he was called before

but yes that is his new name

part of some mystical bullshit

they are all buggered honestly

GreyouTT

Was Regi's body not ready?

The one we weren't able to save

SKM

>Regi's body not ready

Im fucking screaming man

Good show really

your all legends honestly XD

Mugen Kagemaru

Guys stay on task

Cripes

SKM

>cripes

SKM reveals that the ritual that took place on November 11th, 2011 was actually Regiminis' ascension. However, he doesn't elaborate on what exactly went wrong that night - nor how John or the "Flying Child" were involved.

Mugen Kagemaru

What do you know of a person called "Drown"?

SKM

Right

He is a legend that one

I have a bit of a contract with him so to speak

GreyouTT

Is his name Ben by chance

SKM

Not entirely sure what his name is to be fair.

Aside from some code (oct I think at the moment) that seems to say "Drowned"

Me and this boy/creature/ai go way back

GreyouTT

AI?

SKM

In my line of work, sentient entity that communicates only through electro drek = ai

GreyouTT

Electro Drek?

SKM

Electro drek = electronic shit

Sorry ^^;

The players bring up Drowned, who had actually been idling within the chatroom this entire time. SKM explains that he isn't quite sure who or what Drowned is, speculating that he might even be an AI. Regardless, the two have been working together as allies for a long time. After a while, the players began questioning SKM's true identity.

Mugen Kagemaru

...

Are YOU Kevin?

SKM

No XD

I would tell you my name

But anonymity is golden in my line of work.

He is a legend to be fair.

SKM refuses to divulge his name, claiming that his anonymity is very important. However, he does reveal his nickname - "MAX", which was likely inspired by Max Headroom - an individual who SKM has a great deal of admiration for.

Mugen Kagemaru

So we can watch for the videos?

SKM

Ah yes my appologies

https://www.youtube.com/user/silentdork

SKM links to Tyler's YouTube channel - Silentdork. Though it is currently empty, SKM implies that Tyler will soon begin archiving his old videos there.

SKM

Dealing with something a bit nasty atm

Mugen Kagemaru

Purple bastard?

Eve

Fucking stop calling him that.

Mugen Kagemaru

No

It's what he is.

Fuck what you think

Eve

fuck you

SKM

DO you understand who you sympathize with when you suck up to this creature?

My apologies really if you have some connection with him

but I have been fighting him since around 2011

But he is buggered at the moment

I am not worried about him

Our numbers friend handled him for me.

Being a "God" sure seems to have fucked him morality though.

Not to mention his history with me

He has always been on my bloody shit list

and for damn good reasons

but thats not important right now

The player Eve attempts to defend Patrem. This sets SKM off, as he seems to have a long-standing rivalry with Patrem. He claims that he's been hunting after Patrem since 2011, though he doesn't elaborate much on this.

Player

i wanna know the difference between the moon children, and the lunar children. And of which is Patrem the father of?

SKM

Becuase a certain piss pot is breathing down my neck at the moment

I can't say to much

But a long time ago

I believe it was some time in the 80's

There was a split in the initial group known as moon children

They started off as some hippy dippy new thought new age group

but got slowly more and more fucked

when the split happened it was even worse to my understanding

"Followers of the true path, the true honor of her grace, Luna." Was there schtick at start.

GreyouTT

I take it the Lunar Children are the worse half that split off

Eve

and i take it, patrem lead that?

SKM

Yes and yes

SKM explains that there was originally only one cult - the Moon Children. However, there was eventually a schism that resulted in many splitting off to form their own group - the Lunar Children. He claims that the Lunar Children is worse than the Moon Children and that they tout themselves as the TRUE followers of Luna.

SKM

Hold on a moment

I didn't want to have to do this

Hey kid

Could you come in here for a moment?

Damn laggy when I need him the most DX

Mugen Kagemaru

Wait who are you contacting?

SKM

AH bout bloody time

I am terribly sorry about this ^^;

But the mean man from before

the red one

He is bullying me again ^^;

Drowned

HE WILL HURT ME

SKM

I know and I am sorry DX

But he seems to be much more attracted to you than me.

Might have something to do with you both being the same damn thing, whatever the hell that means.

I need you to do your thing

just one more time

I promise I will try to make sure this is not a reacuring issue

Drowned

I will try

SKM

Your a legend to be fair XD

Thanks for this

and all the times you have saved my skin.

He has bought us some time ^^

SKM summons his ally Drowned and claims that "the red man" is currently pursuing him. Apparently, this "Red Man" is far more interested in Drowned than he is in SKM. Because of this, SKM asks Drowned to "do his thing" to distract him.

Eve

what exactly is "his thing"?

SKM

this place

this site

Is a focal point

For a collective of spirits

I mean

I don't like to say spirits

but

Hell who am I kidding

I lost the ability to comfort myself by saying it is just complex programing a long time ago

Mugen Kagemaru

We've seen similar

Does "Wayward Horizon" mean anything to you?

SKM

I recall in my studies of these lunar children blokes, them all being in a buzz about it.

This is apparently going to be "On a MUCH grander scale"

SKM confirms that Johnisdead.com contains many different spirits, claiming that it is like Wayward Horizon from Within Hubris but on a much larger scale.

SKM

Ouch my electro drek

He is getting bloody close

Mugen Kagemaru

Understood. The question can wait

SKM

No no please repeat, its what I am here for.

Oceanstuck

wait whos getting close

SKM

Regimipiss

Mugen Kagemaru

Uh, what's the history between you and Patrem?

SKM

THAT

Can bloody wait though

However

lets just say that I sure as hell didn't want to have anything to do with him, this cult, any of it.

Nor did anyone I am kin to

But he gets what he wants I suppose.

If he even understand what he wants

SKM explains that the "Red Man" is Regiminis, similar to how the "Purple Man" is Patrem. The players proceed to ask about SKM's history with Patrem, but he implies that there's not enough time for him to explain all of that. Instead, he claims that he never wanted to be involved with the Lunar Children - nor did any of his family members.

Wolfcat

Real quick. Are you still in the flesh?

SKM

Heh if I could go transhuman

I would be walking in cyber space

quicker than you could say welcome to 2077

Mugen Kagemaru

... 2077

Dafuw

Oceanstuck

"dafuw"

Mugen Kagemaru

Ocean

Not now

SKM

Sorry just referencing a game I am HYPED as fuck for.

I mean

Life might be fucking crazy

But I need my games

http://www.cyberpunk.net/verify_age/?next=/

but enough about that

I am in the flesh

I wouldn't mind getting a chance to see how these guys experience things

but

It doesn't look to fun

I feel like they are all doing something wrong

SKM confirms that he's still alive - not an ascended spirit. He also references a video game he's looking forward to - Cyberpunk 2077.

Eve

can you tell us about Jacob?

SKM

All I know is that he is a close friend of tyler

Or was

In the time I have been watching him I have established that he disappeared

Just quit talking to him

He is not to be "tusted"

Oceanstuck

"tusted"

is that a reference to eves downvotes

SKM

I have been watching you all a long time as well ^^

By proxy for some time

but still managing

Until purple bastard caught me and, to the best I can describe it, updated and patched himself.

I was able to pull info

Directly from him

Remember

no matter how scary

He is just a bunch of code and data

The players ask SKM about Jacob. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any new information to give. However, he does reference one of the players' memes - a misspelling of the word "trust". He explains that he's been watching the players for a while by pulling information directly from Patrem. Unfortunately, Patrem discovered this and somehow "patched himself".

SKM

Bloody hell

I picked a REALLY

fucking scary time to order pizza XD

Eve

GO ANSWER IT

Wolfcat

Are they knocking on your door?

Oceanstuck

that *is* pizza right

Mugen Kagemaru

He ordered, not received

Wolfcat

Make sure to check first

kidpichu

O^O do it for the pizza

SKM

I have "Tools" on stand by though so either A): tonight a bastard dies or B): the pizza man thinks I am insane answering the door with a stun gun

He sure is late though XD

But anyways hold up one moment

SKM left the chat, leaving the players to worrying that he may have met a similar fate to that of Mat and Rosa... Thankfully, after several minutes of waiting, he returned.

Zack Nelson

Hmm, yeah guess I closed out of this, where did SKM go anyways??

SKM

Sorry about that ^^;

I am back

Oceanstuck

OH THANK GOD

i was worried for a bit

SKM

Pizza guy thought I was fucking daft

I couldn't see him

so I swung the door open

and stuck the stun gun in his face DX

I gave him a very generous tip of €10

Eve

eww, the queens money

SKM

I suddenly feel like a stupid bastard for specifying that ^^;

But at least that still gives a damn large radius for my location.

SKM is safe and has received his pizza. He also accidentally reveals that he lives somewhere in Europe - something that was already implied by his use of British slang.

Mugen Kagemaru

Max what about John Mesic's message?

SKM

What message would that be?

Mugen Kagemaru

We heard John left a message for us

Do you know anything about that?

Wolfcat

Purpleman may have told us what the message was, it's hard to tell. The guy doesn't give context for anything.

"The one who is dead - Has left words for you - Be aware - The grand one is coming - Regiminis"

Mugen Kagemaru

Thanks a lot Wolfcat. We're never gonna get an answer now

No srsly think your shit through next time

SKM

I am confussed

I turn away to take a bite of pizza

and what are you all going on about?

Mugen Kagemaru

John's message

We thought you knew something

But that no longer matter

Because Wolfcat failed to think his actions through and spilled that our source was the purple bastard

So I'm pretty damn sure you're not gonna say anything

The player Wolfcat asks about something mentioned by Patrem - a message for the players left by John. However, this results in drama breaking out as the player Mugen Kagemaru chides Wolfcat for revealing that their source of information was Patrem, believing that SKM would no longer trust them if he knew the players had spoken to him. (Despite the fact that SKM was already well aware that the players were frequently speaking to Patrem...) In response, SKM posted the following:

SKM

"Bloody hell, you act like I am a tumblrina. He isn't my 'Trigger'."

Unfortunately, SKM didn't have any messages from John. It's possible that the players simply misunderstood Patrem like how the player Wolfcat suggested. However, SKM was able to give some more information regarding the night Patrem and Drowned were speaking:

SKM

I sent drowned to distract pisstrum and friend

I know a few things about how this guy seems to operate

Drowned joining the Internet Detectives Skype group and revealing the existence of Johnisdead.com was apparently a plan concocted by SKM himself - one that was done to distract Patrem.

SKM

It looks like I shouldn't have to worry about anymore interruptions for now.

Take a look at the front of this site

Our friend has already begun his work

Oceanstuck

woah fuck

SKM finally reveals what "thing" he was asking Drowned to do in order to distract Regiminis - editing Johnisdead.com. Upon checking the front page, players discovered that it now contained text that read "LEGION" and "I have something to show you".

SKM

Must be trying to taunt regimipiss

Not entirely sure what any of that stuff means to be honest ^^;

Peculiar though

>Legion

I have heard that title used before

Those against the lunar children

have referred to patrem as "The misguided legion"

SKM speculates that Drowned is attempting to taunt Regiminis by writing a disparaging term used by the Moon Children aimed at Patrem - "The Misguided Legion". Shortly after this, the front page updated again, now containing a link to a new page - "https://johnisdead.com/lostmemory423". This page was titled "I'M HERE" and contained the image "hisgoal.jpg", which seemed quite similar to Patrem. This page also contained audio of strained breathing.

Shortly after its discovery, this page updated. It now featured an image of someone wearing a gas mask reaching towards the camera. This same image was used during Jadusable's ARG and further implies that this Drowned is the same Drowned found on Youshouldnthavedonethat.net. This page also contained an animated gif of the two glowing eyes spotted in one of Ryukaki's videos - an entity that many speculated to be Ben.

After a while, players began fearing that Patrem was coming. However, SKM responded with the following:

SKM

If you are referring to purple bastard

He is out of commission for the time being.

Oceanstuck

how so

SKM

Not enough dedotated wam

What we tricked him into doing left him rather fucked

SKM implies that he and Drowned's plan to draw out Patrem several days prior somehow damaged him and left him weakened. However, he doesn't go into detail on this.

SKM

For now the most important things to know, is that Tyler will be coming back to you soon. This I can promise. He has forgotten everything so try to fill him in. Also that other website that something (and when I say something I mean I have no idea which one of these "Spirits" chose to spill the beans) linked you to. Keep and eye on it.

That is the "Archive" that may have been mentioned before.

As well as a place they communicate with each other.

SKM reiterates that Tyler will soon be active on YouTube and that this will be the players' chance to contact him. He also tells them to keep an eye on Lunarchildren.com, which he claims is the "Archive" previously mentioned by Patrem - the same one that mysteriously went offline shortly after the destruction of the original Within Hubris.

SKM

Technical difficulties please standby.

This is not good

Oceanstuck

oh no

what is it

skoom? you there?

SKM

I might need to have that kid jack out soon.

Things are getting a little crazy.

Oceanstuck

crazy how

whats happening on your end

SKM

Well for starters my shit is running on a generator and I am down a hall and bloody bathroom light due to the bastards popping.

My drok is going to get broken in a sec if I don't unplug it, I should not have skipped on the bloody surge protector ^^;

Any last question before I pull the kid out and leave?

OH fucking drezz me

the kid

hold on

I am doing my bloody best to pull him out

SKM's tools and computer start going haywire as Regiminis begins closing in on their location. In a panic, he attempts to pull Drowned out of Johnisdead.com. Drowned, distressed, continues updating the website. "https://johnisdead.com/lostmemory423" underwent several changes, with many instances of the word "DROWNED" falling from the top of the screen. Over time, however, these words got smaller and smaller...

SKM

Hold on

/lostmemory423 is not fucking looking ok

Bloody hell I am trying my damndest here but I can only dl so fast

Mugen Kagemaru

There a way we can help?

Eve

what happened?

GreyouTT

kidpichu

O^O"

>^<" eep

SKM

70% fucking drezz me

I am doing all I can

Christ the fucking kid please

95%

By this point, "https://johnisdead.com/lostmemory423" had gone completely black with no text whatsoever...

However, just then...

Drowned

I am scared

SKM

DAMN KID DONT FUCK WITH ME LIKE THAT

Drowned

The red man is coming

SKM

I know

We are about to jack out

To anyone who isn't sure

I have him

Drowned

Im here

Drowned was safe and once again in SKM's possession. However, there was no time to celebrate:

Drowned

Heisalmostherehavetogetouthurrryplease

HURRY PLEASE

SKM

Fuck

We gotta jack out

DAMN IT

Regiminis

I FOUND YOU

Oceanstuck

SKOOM JUST GO

kidpichu

go

SKM and Drowned manage to narrowly escape as Regiminis breaks into the chatroom. After this, the chatroom disappeared. Upon checking "https://johnisdead.com/lostmemory423", players discovered that it had changed once again. Drowned's influence on the page had vanished. In its place was text that read "LEAVE NOW" and a stuttering video clip of a red-tinted skull-like entity. A loud, distorted song was also playing on this page.
