Story (Full) 30
The story so far...
In the previous section, the players regrouped after the chaotic events of the Pumpkinhead Gamejack. During this time, the Internet Detectives' newest member, Erika, attempted to settle in to the Discord server. Despite the verbal lashing she received from an out-of-character Tyler, Erika was still a very big fan who was eager to share her knowledge. This led to her sharing a short Silentdork upload from 2018 that no one else had seen before - a brief livestream test that occurred just before "First live stream: general talk" went live. According to Erika, she briefly spoke with Tyler in this video's livechat - though it was sadly not archived.
As the players continued chatting, they discovered that the player Scrublord had experienced a rather unique interaction with IIIII a few months ago. During this conversation, an entity speaking through the IIIII account - presumably the Rune Entity - claimed that his own personal bonds and friendships held some sort of special power - power that could supposedly defeat a "dark curse". Additionally, this entity attempted to reveal a "secret code" that could possibly destroy Regiminis - "Oh shit i-". Sadly, the phrase was left incomplete.
Unfortunately, the good vibes did not last. As Undecim Nocte 2019 progressed, Erika once again attempted to contact Tyler. However, Tyler - still presumably speaking out-of-character - continued lashing out at her. To make matters more confusing, GHOSTBABEL joined in on the conversation and began criticizing Tyler for his rude behavior. Players weren't quite sure what to make of this - a canon character was seemingly speaking to an out-of-character GM. The situation became more convoluted as a seemingly out-of-character Greth also started chiding Tyler. This culminated in Tyler coldly declaring that the ARG would soon be ending with the upload of one final video - "The End".
This video started off as though it were an out-of-character message announcing the end of the ARG. However, it contained several oddities that suggested it was not actually uploaded by Tyler... Instead, the players deduced that this entire situation was actually a ploy by Tenebris - presumably in an attempt to end the ARG and claim some sort of victory. This would imply that all of Tyler's recent out-of-character Discord interactions were actually in-character - they were all Tenebris pretending to be him. This explained his odd mannerisms and rude behavior as of late.
As "The End" continued, it morphed into a message from the Rune Entity who once again implied that Tyler would be forced to walk some sort of "Paths" - presumably in the form of sidewalks within the Parallelos. Players were then shown what exactly happened to Tyler on April 23rd, 2019 - he was attacked by a Patrem-possessed Greth. While Tyler managed to escape via the Detour Sign, this caused him to warp into the Parallelos in-front of a bridge and the Mannequin Entity.
Meanwhile, SKM contacted the players through the Quiet Family YouTube channel. Here, he informed them that he would soon be contacting them over Discord. Given his phrasing, it's likely that he, too, is now within the Parallelos... Afterwards, "The End" was suddenly renamed to "Start Life" as the players both struggled to process what all just occurred while also preparing for what was yet to come...

Story
On November 12th, 2019, the players were still attempting to process the contents of "The End" - or as it was now titled, "Start Life". As discussed in the previous chapter, this video implied that the out-of-character "Tyler" who was ranting in the Internet Detectives Discord server wasn't Tyler at all - it was actually Tenebris. Based on the messages he left in the video's livechat, it seems as though Tenebris was desperately trying to ruin the ARG so that it could end. This is consistent with Tenebris's goals as stated near the beginning of this arc - the desire to "die" and "make it all end".
The out-of-character Tyler actually being Tenebris explains why GHOSTBABEL was able to chat with them. However, one thing that still remained a mystery was the out-of-character Greth... Was this "Greth" actually in-character - just like Tenebris? If so, who was he? Though his demeanor was quite different, some players began speculating that this out-of-character Greth was actually the same "Greth" they spoke to before - the malicious third version of Greth who was separate from both Prime Timeline Greth and Astral Timeline Greth. This malicious "Greth" seemed to be a mischievous trickster, so the prospect of him pretending to be out-of-character and going along with Tenebris's ploy isn't too unfathomable.
As a brief refresher, here's our current list of Greths:
- Prime Greth - Greth from the Prime Timeline. This is the Greth that the players knew personally. In 2016, he was involved in the "Circle of Three" and later visited a pond near the Fishery. He eventually started the Greth Vlogs channel and met Tyler before becoming possessed by Patrem. While under this possession, Greth attacked Tyler, causing him to flee into the Parallelos via the Detour Sign. Lately, a version of this Greth from 2016 has been chatting with the players.
- Moonman - Greth from the Astral Timeline. The players first met this Greth on the Astral Observatory Forums. He never partook in the "Circle of Three", nor did he ever visit the Fishery pond. He also never met Tyler in person or became possessed by Patrem. Lately, a version of this Greth from 2016 has been chatting with the players.
- "Greth" - A callous, taunting version of Greth. This version of Greth's origins are unknown. Many of his statements seem contradictory and cryptic. He also makes many strange references to "Aggregation" and "The Meta". It's possible that this version of Greth is the one who was pretending to be out-of-character alongside Tenebris.
Specifics aside, one thing was now clear - the fourth wall was no longer safe. It seems as though certain entities were now quite comfortable toying with meta-related concepts and using the concept of "canon" and "non-canon" to mislead the players.
With that foreword out of the way, let's return to the story. Some time after the premiere of "Start Life" had ended, the players discovered that the entire first half of it was now missing. Instead, the video now started right at the Rune Entity's message.
The entire introduction of the video vanished but I actually finshed downloading it a few moments ago and I seem to have gotten the full thing.
he's fucked
ah it’s "The End" by My Chemical Romance
I was so in shock over what was going on I did not even notice
THAT WAS MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE IN THAT INTRODUCTION
As Erika proceeds to gush about My Chemical Romance, the players attempt to sort out is and isn't canon - specifically in regards to Greth leaving the Discord server while supposedly being out-of-character...
ay quick thing - the whole thing with greth leaving was probably planned since he was in the stream chat
so unless Erika was in on this too, which I doubt, that wasnt planned
Erika was just a convinient solution
The other option would’ve been the gamejack causing him to go insane
I am not sure what I have solved but alright I am still just trying to solve weather or not I ought to try and send Tyler my tribute video now
he’ll look at it whenever
Greth is also in the video as well but I kind of
just made it for Tyler ^^;
but
idk
I kept it unlisted until a few moments ago because I was so nervous
Erika once again mentions her Johnisdead Tribute video. Unfortunately, she seems a bit too bashful to show it to the others... Meanwhile, the players make an interesting discovery about the title "Start Life".
THANK YOU ERIKA
DOOD ODOD ODODOO
ODOODODOOOD
he used that in the arg before
While searching for the recent "Start Life" video, Erika stumbled upon a vaporwave track that shared the same name - "Start Life" by Nouveau Life. This track was actually used on the "https://johnisdead.com/tyler" page back in 2015, so this connection was likely intentional. However, upon examining this video more closely, Erika made another discovery:
I ACTUASL
I ACTUALLY JUST FOUND SILENT DORK IN THE COMMENT SECTION OF THIS VIDEO
((A link to Tyler's comment on the Nouveau Life video is sent.))
Sure enough, the video featuring the "Start Life" track above contained a comment left by the Silentdork account - one that simply read "III". As players went to read the comment, they found that Erika herself had also replied to Silentdork using her Emerald Heart YouTube channel:
Emerald Heart
"Hello Tyler I love you and hope you are doing ok today I cannot believe I just somehow found you like this this must be destiny"
Out of curiosity, the players began checking out Erika's YouTube channel and found her aforementioned tribute video - "mcr FOREVER NOW SilentDork and Greth vlogs Tribute" - much to her embarrassment...
nice job
((Erika abruptly leaves the Discord server.))
Embarrassed, Erika promptly flees the Internet Detectives Discord server. However, as more players began watching her video, they realized that a great deal of the footage within it was brand new...
Description
I know this is not the best but Ioved what I saw from the updates from a while back and recently. I had some premonitions (and I bet he would have as well) for a while now, a year really. That mcr was going to come back so about a year ago I started on this music video tribute. I meant to have it ready for halloween (woopsie silly me I was just a bit late xp). I love you gerard, I LOOOVE YOU TYLER (hugs hugs hugs) Edit: I love you internet detectives =D

This entire video is a music video playing to the song "This Is How I Disappear" by My Chemical Romance. The following scenes begin playing in tune to the music:
- Greth walking through a grassy area. The "mannequin entity" can be seen in the background.
- Greth striking something with a sword before running towards the camera.
- Distorted footage of Greth standing next to a sign that reads "SIDEWALK CLOSED CROSS HERE".
- Inverted footage of Greth holding a sword in a wooded environment.
- Someone walking down a sidewalk next to a highway.
- A still shot of the altar seen next to the "triangular rune board".
- Greth running out of the wooded environment as the parallelos symbol appears.
- Tyler's yard at night as a storm approaches. Several images of Yuukichan appear.
- Tyler walking outside his trailer. Faint footage of a railroad plays over this.
- Faint footage of Alex with Tyler sitting next to him.
- Faint footage of John.
- Faint footage of a pond with a sign reading "NO FISHING OR SWIMMING"
- Faint footage of "mask3iswaiting.webm".
- Faint footage of someone wearing a gas mask.
- Faint footage of a disturbing face.
- Faint footage of someone wearing a hat with a skull on it.
- Faint footage of someone walking down a wooded path.
- An image of the distorted, green environment seen in recent videos. A faint image of Yuukichan appears over this footage, which quickly cuts to an image of someone wearing a hat, before briefly cutting to an image of a Jack-o-Lantern.
- Someone recording a game of "Soul Calibur 2".
- Someone closing a door in the fishery.
- Tyler speaking to the camera.
- Various indoor shots of different buildings.
- Someone walking down a staircase. They turn and see someone sitting further down the staircase in a striped hoodie. The camera zooms in on them several times.
- Greth wielding a sword standing over the camera.
- Incredibly shaky footage taken at night.
- A close-up of Tyler's face. Footage of John's burned house plays over this.
- Footage of someone running down a sidewalk in the distorted, green environment.
- John and Tyler exploring the fishery together.
- Greth swinging the sword at the camera. The parallelos symbol briefly appears over this footage.
The video fades out before a photo of the singer "Gerard Way" from My Chemical Romance appears with three hearts pasted over it.
Summary
- This video is a fan-made music video created by Erika in tribute to Johnisdead. It's set to the song "This Is How I Disappear" by My Chemical Romance.
- This video mainly consists of never before seen footage of various Johnisdead characters and locations.
Nearly all of the footage used in this video was brand new. It contained clips of Tyler, Greth, Alex, and The Fishery that had never been seen before. This led to several players speculating that Erika may not be an average player but instead a canon character...
Later that morning, GHOSTBABEL's account suddenly became active once again. However, they seemed to be acting a bit strange...
I am stealin’ their account without permission
a bad guy 😉
Shortly after this exchange, the "bad guy" hijacking GHOSTBABEL's account changed its username to "BUP" - a reference to the character Toad from Super Mario 64. Fittingly, they also changed their avatar to a close-up of Toad's face. This supposed "bad guy" seemed to be a very memetic individual...
you all want to play the game, right?
hahaha
goodbye for now I guess
ᴛʜᴀᴛ’s ᴍʏ ᴛʀɪᴄᴋ. ɪ ᴍᴜsᴛ ᴀᴅᴍɪᴛ ɪᴛ’s sʟɪɢʜᴛʟʏ ᴜɴɴᴇʀᴠɪɴɢ.
While it's unknown who exactly this "BUP" individual is, they seem to be quite powerful - especially if they're able to effortlessly obtain control of GHOSTBABEL's account... Thankfully, GHOSTBABEL seems unharmed and is still able to chat with the players.
ɪ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʏᴏᴜ ᴍᴇᴀɴ, xᴇɴ, ʙᴜᴛ ʙᴇᴄᴀᴜsᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴍʏ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ ʜɪᴅᴇᴏᴜᴛ ᴀʟʟ ɪ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ᴏꜰ ɪs ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴛᴇʀʀɪʙʟᴇ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛʀʏ sᴏɴɢ.

ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴀʟʟ ᴅɪsᴄᴏᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛᴇᴄʜɴᴏʟᴏɢʏ ᴏꜰ ʀᴀᴅɪᴏ, ʏᴇs?

sʜᴏᴜʟᴅ ʏᴏᴜ sᴜꜰꜰɪᴄɪᴇɴᴛʟʏ ᴀɴɴᴏʏ ᴍᴇ, ᴀɴʏᴡᴀʏ.
After teasing GHOSTBABEL about country music, the players return to the matter at hand - the mysterious "BUP".
also his name is now BUPPER until he reveals his real name
I think that’s cute & funny
I'm just a bad guy 😉
In fact I like this account
I think I will lock out your friend
you are not SKM
he’s very frantic right now
she’s?
the owner of this account
anyways they seem to have great power
but sadly it’s not enough to overcome me
I am placed higher
Unfortunately, the players' conversation with GHOSTBABEL is cut short as BUP once again takes control of their account. Interestingly, they imply that GHOSTBABEL may actually be female... Additionally, the name "BUP" seems to be just a humorous alias and not the actual true name of this entity.
Whoever "BUP" truly is, they seem to enjoy toying with meta-related concepts - mainly in the sense that they constantly refer to themselves as "A Bad Guy", as though they're aware that they're simply fulfilling a role within a story and acting as an obstacle for the players... While Tenebris often toyed with the "meta", it's unlikely that BUP is Tenebris - the two entities seem to have very different personalities.
you were collaborating with this entity
and now you are not 😉
depends on what I feel like doing
Like playing games?
what kind of game should we play
pass
On November 13th, 2019, the players continued chatting with BUP.
Its a nice moon out
What is your season?
Interesting
Ancient beliefs would dictate that your strongest positive aura is in winter and your strongest negative energy is in summer
As BUP chats with the players, he seemingly displays a fair amount of spiritual knowledge. Meanwhile, the player otherLiam attempts to get his attention.
I was asking about your game proposal.
you wanted to do some kinda game or something, and if we won we get information?
I wasnt TOO worried about that
I thought it would be fun 😉
We know so little shit.
But not all the shit
I know all the shit
Well almost.
what does that even mean
i kinda like that
jevils whole thing is that he’s like. aware of reality on a layer higher than the player characters
Thats accurate
Honestly its not a bad analysis based on how im handling this antagonist role
Wait i forgot the creepy meme line
I’m a bad guy 😉
Ok ocd fixed
Interestingly, BUP implies that he holds a great deal of knowledge, claiming that he "knows all the shit". He also implies that he is aware of reality itself and is on a higher layer of existence. This all fits in line with the idea that BUP is somehow aware of meta-related concepts...
And it’s pissing off the other pieces
Or ghost
This is big brain hours
Well the answer is both
I am bad and also trolling
But only cause i want to be
This is an active decision I’m making
BUP claims that he's working with a of group of villains - a group that he's supposedly responsible for assembling. He's currently here taunting the players for two reasons:
- "Someone" has been "swatting the chessboard", which is angering the "other pieces".
- BUP simply enjoys trolling the players.
Unfortunately, this doesn't help much with discerning BUP's ultimate motives or identity.
So no Luna bullshit?
Its just not my personal goal
Can we fight you forever?
So to speak
Well not 'forever'
I killed Yuuki
Not directly
I didn’t strangle her myself
But I made the decision that led to it happening
Not if I can stop it.
Hope it goes better than last time wolf
A nice little home for us to live in
Forever
Me, me, him, and her
Hey wolf
BUP claims that he has no interest in summoning Luna and bringing about the apocalypse. This implies that he doesn't have a direct connection to either the Moon Children or the Lunar Children. Additionally, BUP implies that he's already antagonized the players in the past and that he's responsible for orchestrating Yuukichan's death - at least to some extent.
okay do you remember kingdom hearts
how those two idiot kids played chess
and then they xanatos gambited half the universe into simple and cleaning their way into death
okay i am one of those guys in this situation but there are more kids with bad haircuts playing chess
and its not actually like kingdom hearts at all
I get the feeling we’re losing so badly at this point that it’s like in Mario Party when you’re in 4th but can steal a star to decide who wins.
you saw how things are going in general
at some point when lines blur
fun things sneak in
BUP claims that he holds no connection to the IIIII account. He also references a scene from the game "Kingdom Hearts III" that involved a game of chess. This chess game symbolized the larger story and events in the "Kingdom Hearts" universe. BUP claims that he's playing a similar game of chess - though there's more than two players. If this comparison is accurate, it could imply that BUP holds a great deal of control over the world of Johnisdead and the characters within it... This could explain how he orchestrated Yuukichan's death and easily controlled the accounts of other characters.
wait do you mean every iteration of the group across the dimensions?
kind of
because i dont know
not my purview fucko
BUP claims that he's somehow from "Every ID" - presumably from across the various different timelines... This narrows his identity down to a player - or at least an alternate version of a player. He also reiterates that he isn't connected to the IIIII account.
After being asked a number of questions, BUP suddenly has the idea for a game:
someone dies
i have someone in mind
1. yes and no / true false questions
2. stop asking my identity
3. No asking about Tyler
The players now have an opportunity to siphon some information off of BUP - though at a great risk... Unless they word their questions carefully, someone's going to be killed.
you didnt scare him off
what you caused scared him off
not sure that’s safe to talk about here
even for me
you can blame slinky
i’m damn near omniscient but he went deep
and it was
Through the interview with BUP, the players learn some interesting tidbits:
- Nocta has been hiding ever since the players rescued Moonman from the Subspace on Astral Observatory. BUP claims that this is partially due to the submission of the "Elegy of Emptiness", which allowed for the arrival of a dangerous entity. This is likely referencing the "Orange Entity", Pumpkinhead, whose true status and motives are still unknown. (Reminder: The Pumpkinhead Gamejack is not an accurate portrayal of the canon Pumpkinhead - that event was fabricated by Wolfcat.)
- SKM and Max have recently been working with a group of hackers. Who exactly these hackers are is a bit of a mystery - as well as what they're been working towards.
- José is currently lost - so much so that even BUP doesn't know his current whereabouts.
- BUP is responsible for allowing versions of Greth and Moonman from 2016 to chat with the players.
With each answer the players received, BUP only seemed more and more powerful. They discovered that BUP could alter reality and allow certain characters to speak from different points in time. BUP also described himself as near omniscient.
Unfortunately, BUP's interview was about to come to an abrupt end.
my bad sorry
IM SORRU
I FORGOT
SORRY
fucking
serious
It’s THREE RULES.
a huge murderer now
The player ARGdov accidentally broke one of BUP's three rules - No asking questions about Tyler. BUP began toying with the players as he pondered who he should kill.
I could kill someone you love, but is of little consequence to you now
Or i could kill someone you hate, but it would set you back far
you see it’s funny when you can play with the rules
because to you
theyre already dead
YUUKI
DID WE JUST KILL YUUKI
In the past.
I killed Yuuki
Not directly
But i made the decision that led to it happening
she was ascended
i told them to do that
In a surprising turn of events, it's revealed that the individual BUP has chosen to kill is actually Yuukichan. This loops back around to something BUP said earlier in the conversation - he didn't literally kill Yuukichan himself but he did set up the events that led to it taking place - this very interview. In a roundabout way, the players themselves are responsible for Yuukichan dying earlier in the year.
However, even though this is what led to BUP making the decision that Yuukichan should be killed in the past, this still doesn't explain how exactly Yuukichan died. It's still likely that Nocta is the one responsible for actually physically killing her - BUP just decided that it should happen in the first place.
actually you guys like him now
but you didnt then
weird how that works
you wish
i am
the funny thing is
i straight up
gave you the answer to my identity
i honest to god 100% did
you just cant connect the dots
BUP compares himself to the "Broker of Nokturnal" from Kaiden's roleplay. However, his true identity still remains a mystery - despite the players supposedly already being familiar with him.
On November 14th, 2019, a new user joined the Internet Detectives Discord server - "ReturnedFaith" - though they quickly changed their username to "The Producer".
I heard you’re all quite the murderous lot
or technically not last night
I guess "murder” is subjective in this case
I was watching
rest in peace kaiden
yuuki was "killed” “"again”“
but in reality it was something that could not be avoided
since it had already happened
I’m a member of BUP’s group
The Producer introduces himself as a member of BUP's group. However, he seems far less malicious than his cohort...
I don’t have that sort of power, though I guess I could put in a request if I really wanted
my motives are I am bored and just wanna chat
What exactly do you produce?
I’m not a music producer, though I have made one or two short tracks in the past
its not my wish
As his name suggests, The Producer aids BUP by producing whatever he requests - though what all this entails isn't entirely known. Thankfully, he doesn't seem to be as bloodthirsty as BUP.
I’m kinda more like the temp
we’ve all been very busy lately
especially myself
((A player's message is briefly quoted and then deleted.))
i was attempting to copy something else
or was it?
ooh
(still have to be a little mysterious)
(regulations, you know)
but thats not like an exact number
some come and go
The players and The Producer liken BUP's group to an office - though this comparison is mostly just done for the sake of humor and convenience. Regardless, The Producer claims that BUP has about seven members in his group - including BUP and himself. However, this number isn't exact and some members come-and-go.
in fact plenty of people have gotten better
actually who in this game HAS been totally been killed?
and so it might still be out there somewhere
Though he doesn't seem to be as omniscient as BUP, The Producer holds a great deal of knowledge about the ARG. Additionally, given his affiliation with BUP and the way he speaks about different characters, it's possible that he holds some meta-related abilities as well.
Producing and providing BUP and others with whatever they need
including the d
if they require the d, then Im afraid I must provide

YES
bye for now
hmmm
After giving the players "The D", The Producer departs - presumably to produce more contents for BUP.
It seemed as though the players were now indeed dealing with another new faction. Below is everything we've learned about this group so far:
The leader of this group is BUP - a malicious entity that prides itself in tricking and tormenting the players. This group has roughly seven members total, though this number is known to change as members come-and-go.
BUP's identity is a mystery. He claims that the players have interacted with him in the past and that he's somehow been a member of "Every ID" - as in every single version of the Internet Detectives across the countless timelines. BUP prides himself in his role of being a "bad guy" and he seems very aware of meta-related concepts. Additionally, he has a near-omniscient amount of knowledge about the world of the ARG and possesses the ability to manipulate time.
The Producer is another member of this group. Unlike BUP, he seems far less malicious and instead enjoys casually chatting with the players. His job is to produce things for BUP - though it's unknown what all this includes. He also holds a great deal of knowledge in regards to the world of the ARG - though presumably less than BUP.
The ultimate goal of this group and how exactly it formed is a mystery. It doesn't seem to be directly tied to the Lunar Children or Moon Children - nor does it seem to have a goal related to Luna.
Later that night, the players became antsy. SKM had promised to speak to them in three days, but he had yet to show himself. Instead, the players received a visit from another returning ally - IsocelesAssassin.
I know you all were looking forward to speaking to SKM
but unfortunately our mutual friend will be a no-show tonight
Strange forces beyond my comprehension are at play
it’s my understanding that these same forces are responsible for our ɢʜᴏsᴛʟʏ ꜰʀɪᴇɴᴅ being locked out of their account as of late
IsocelesAssassin informs the players that SKM sadly won't be joining them tonight. He implies that something is preventing SKM from chatting with the players - something that may be related to GHOSTBABEL losing access to her account.
like toad Bup?
He’s the one who took over Ghosty’s account
That’s our main concern at the moment
I was actually looking forward to seeing SKM return tonight
he is quiet elusive, even for us
The man prides himself on his privacy, what can I say
Though "subtle” is probably the last word I would describe him as before meeting this current incarnation of him
Can’t really blame him with all of what’s going on
Not like it’s really helping him evade the new baddies
These "new baddies” seem to be a completely different breed entirely if they’re truly responsible for what’s been happening these past few days
I know little to nothing about them other than the fact that they have the ability to completely steal Ghost’s account and one of them is apparently named fucking "Bup"
We have no clue what’s up with all of these ᛇ characters
As I’ve said, most of our efforts have been going towards constructing something to get you all inside
Half the work is goes into properly communicating with one another
Us - you guys and myself - we have it easy as we are intrinsically linked
My other comrades don’t have it so easy
I don’t want to say why exactly because doing so would put them in jeopardy
Well... can we “intrinsically link” your other comrades the same way we linked you, by playing songs?
It’s not that simple
Just have patience
It will be completed in due time
IsocelesAssassin and GHOSTBABEL are still working alongside some as-of-yet unseen allies in an attempt to get the players into the Astral Observatory's Subspace. Communication with these allies is difficult - though IsocelesAssassin doesn't want to explain why as it may put them in danger. Also, IsocelesAssassin unfortunately has no information regarding BUP's group or the IIIII account.
I’m quite familiar with time dicking myself
Like they’re acting as though they’re in 2016 and this chat is their only window into this time.
It’s likely there’s little we can do about it
I’ll have Ghost look into things further once they calm down
2016 though
Time was fucked that year
The players discuss Greth and Moonman's current time dilemma. Unfortunately, it seems as though there's little that they and IsocelesAssasssin can do about it for now - especially considering that this seems to be an extension of BUP's power...
that recent video premiere didnt help much either
Before yelling about how “This was supposed to be the end” and shit
These forces attempting to convince us none of this is real
That it’s all a game
Something we of course all believed before
well
over half of us got killed, to be frank
So yeah, I wouldn't believe any of it
The whole "This is over” shtick
I need to go now
Sorry for the sudden leave, but I have things I need to take care of
IsocelesAssassin warns against the idea of simply treating all of this as a game. This is understandable considering that, from his perspective, it's NOT a game - most of the Internet Detectives were killed in his timeline. Interestingly, he claims that this sort of "non-canon" ruse was used once before. However, what exactly this is referring to is unknown.
On November 15th, 2019, The Producer returned and continued chatting with the players.
couldn’t they just get addicted to heroine or something
give me admin or he’ll ban you
another spooky possessed minecraft admin
just kidding
perhaps its best if we leave that whole debacle in the past
technically it wasnt any of ours
something nasty did it
dark forces mixed with one of our members
dark forces we’re all familiar with
things that come and go
he came down with a bad case of the D
a very talented man
The Producer clarifies that BUP himself isn't responsible for SKM's absence. Instead, it supposedly had to do with "dark forces" mixing with a separate member of BUP's group. What exactly this means and who The Producer is referring to is unknown, however. Regardless, SKM is still unavailable to chat for the time being and the players can only wait for now.
Speaking of BUP's group, the players begin asking more questions about its inner-workings and structure.
well
not sign up for this specific organization
but you could become a wide-eyed up and coming spooky entrepreneur based on your own merits
How exactly would that work?
then you must make a sacrifice
not one of blood but one of time
then you must do a bunch of other stupid esoteric bullshit and boom suddenly youre the CEO of bigdicks spookyboys r us
no education requirements... required
all of this is me attempting to describe very non-descript things dont take it too literally
im starting to realize
maybe this is a △ scheme
tbh we’re much less organized than those other guys
theres just a few rules we need to abide by
3: if there is somehow an issue with these two contradicting one another, check with BUP
4: see rule one
6: profit
but as ive said, some have come and gone
hello coomerLiam
i meme with extreme prejudice
we have share the same goal
also refer to rule 34
haha lol
The Producer claims that anyone can achieve a group similar to BUP's if they tap into their inner dreams, sacrifice a great deal of time, and partake in a bunch of "stupid esoteric bullshit". However, it's likely that he's mostly kidding. He also claims that BUP's group has been around "since the beginning", though this doesn't help much in narrowing down anyone's identity...
On November 16th, 2019, The Producer shared another small announcement with the players:
that is all
I need to get back to producing
im working on something large at the moment
...It seems as though The Producer is a fan of Shakira. He also claims to be working on something rather large - though he doesn't reveal what it is.
On November 17th, 2019, Erika finally rejoined the Internet Detectives Discord server. Over the following weeks, she would proceed to share some very interesting knowledge with the players. However, this will all be covered in the next chapter instead. For now, we'll continue focusing on BUP and his associates.
Later that night, The Producer returned for a brief chat.
Are u gonna send us another sick beat now?
but ill make one specifically for you guys
ill call it
uhh
what should i call it
as for many years this has been going on for, its no surprise that some stuff has slipped through the cracks
how about "elegy boy"
why do all of you guys hate on skm
kinda sketchy though
keeps himself busy
thats for sure
EXCUSE ME
HAHAHA
The Producer promises to eventually create a song specifically for the players titled "Kill switch". Additionally, he seems unfamiliar with Erika. When asked how she obtained the unseen footage for her tribute video, he suggests that she may have found some videos that were previously unarchived.
On November 18th, 2019, The Producer chatted with the players once again.
still alive im assuming?
I mean when the alternative is being dead, the bar is pretty low
times are a'changing
twisting
turning
falling behind
what we’re attempting to pull off here is what’s known as a pro gamer move so to speak
all will make sense in due time
history always repeats, dont it?
anyway, maybe you should refer to your notes
3/3/15
The Producer claims that BUP's group is attempting to accomplish something rather complex that's somewhat akin to "hacking reality". Though he doesn't reveal what this is, he tells the players that they should refer to their notes - specifically ones from March 3rd, 2015. This is likely referring to the notes from Doug that the players found on this date - the ones that detail the possibility of merging timelines... How exactly this factors into BUP's plans is unknown, though.
A few days later on November 20th, 2019, BUP commented on this.
dont you think you’re being a bit too open
i figured why not throw them a spook bone
even if I had revealed something its likely they wouldnt have been able to pick up on it anyways
(no offense)
These conversations continued into November 21st, 2019, where The Producer had an interesting announcement to make.
bonita
mi casa
su casa
have you found the secret yet
I might be expecting company, im not sure yet
Shortly afterwards, The Producer's company arrived as an account named "TheLaw" suddenly joined the Internet Detectives Discord server.
Welcome
Bup moment
there you are
the big man comin out of retirement
Even when I don’t really know what’s ever going on anymore.
What’s the story here? Did these guys actually figure things out?
(jk guys i <3 you all)
to some extent at least
kinda
sometimes
Something about TheLaw felt very familiar... In fact, TheLaw seemed familiar with the players as well, joking about how they still haven't figured much out yet. Upon doing some digging, the players realized that TheLaw had actually appeared earlier in the ARG - at the very beginning. The initial account that notified the players about YSHDT.com's existence in 2015 was also named "thelaw". Given this shared name - as well as the fact that the two spoke very similarly and both used "Judge Dredd" avatars - it seemed likely that these were indeed the same character.
This all implied that there was far more to TheLaw than the players first thought... Back in 2015, TheLaw seemed to be a random player who just so happened to stumble upon YSHDT.com. However, if TheLaw is actually a canon entity who is working alongside BUP, this means they hold much more significance... Interestingly, The Producer notes that TheLaw is just now "coming out of retirement". This is likely referencing his long absence, as TheLaw hasn't been active since his initial discovery of YSHDT.com back in 2015.
you with BUP?
Or foes?
Do you make the laws?
Much like The Producer, TheLaw doesn't seem to be outwardly hostile towards the players. However, he is willing to fulfill whatever role BUP gives him, so this may not always be the case...
On November 22nd, 2019, The Producer continued chatting.
at least I think so
good news for us
specifically for me
crunch time is a bitch
we get to live a bit longer
or at the very least we dont need to worry about their being any trouble for a bit longer
i know what you mean tho
more trouble
id explain further but the big two would get my ass
Is he a chill duud?
he used to be in BUP’s position
kinda
he was in charge?
I just mean he had some substantial power at one point in time
not necesarilly BUP’s exact position
WHO IS BUP'S BOSS?
BUP's boss is ᛇᛇᛇᛇᛇ
"EO" isnt exactly accurate
and also youre missing one
im not really sure if its completely accurate to call him BUP’s boss however
they both have tremendous power
more power than myself, at least
The Producer reveals that TheLaw once held a position similar to BUP, implying that they once possessed a great deal of power and influence. He also claims that BUP's boss is "IIIII", though he backtracks this a bit, claiming that that description isn't entirely accurate. While the true connection between BUP's group and IIIII is unclear, it seems as though BUP and IIIII both possess tremendous power and are somehow affiliated to some extent.
On December 2nd, 2019, The Producer continued chatting with the players.
here i am again
is this getting repetitive
i feel like this is getting repetitive
unfortunately it will have to make do until my masterpiece is complete
along with whatever else accompanies it
You wanna see mine?
sure
he and kelbris really stole the spotlight away from the other two didnt they
if only i could prolong the cycle ad infinitum
maybe then we could see spencer groovin to some tunes too
or alex hall of fame
The Producers muses about how Spencer and Alex seemingly had less of a spotlight than Kelbris and Doug. He also seems a bit unsatisfied with all of the conversations lately, though he implies that this will change once his "Magnum Opus" is completed.
im assuming all lingering questions have now been cleared up
no more mysteries or loose threads
That’s literally the opposite of how we are now
We’re pretty confused by the entire structure of how many timelines we’re dealing with.
We aren’t certain exactly which Tyler or how many Tylers we’ve interacted with in the past.
We aren’t even really sure what we did years ago when we went back in time and voted to kill.
It’s hard to figure anything out when we have such a shaky foundation to work with )’:
technically speaking, there are an infinite number of timelines
i believe you witnessed this during the whole youshouldnthavedonethat fiasco
of course only a few are so vital
another thing seen during the confusing shit in 2016
im not sure how much detail i can go into on that
But there’s sort of a split between us where we think that we’ve talked with other ones from other timelines.
Like one that is trying to convince us all this is a game.
One where all this actually IS a game.
indeed there is a tyler from your timeline and a tyler from the astral timeline
i dont really think im at liberty to say much more than that
there are more tylers
that much i can say
this really isnt new information, however
of course there will be more tylers - infinite timelines
more than two
The players share some of their confusion with The Producer - mainly in regards to all of the different versions of Tyler they've interacted with. This is a valid point of confusion, as the players have been introduced to many different versions of Tyler:
- Prime Tyler - The Tyler that they're all familiar with.
- Astral Tyler - The Tyler from the Astral Timeline - presumably missing.
- Rune Entity - "Another Tyler" who seems somewhat familiar with the players.
- Tyler00 - A version of Tyler who briefly spoke from the Parallelos before being possessed by Tenebris.
- "Out-of-character" Tyler - A fictional persona used by Tenebris in the "The End" ploy a few weeks earlier.
- SilentDT - An alternate version of Tyler who presumably joined the Moon Children.
Details surrounding these alternate versions of Tyler are vague - it's possible that some of them are actually one-in-the same and the players simply don't have enough context or information. Regardless, The Producer informs them that there are indeed an infinite number of Tylers - just as there are an infinite number of timelines. However, only a few of these timelines are of importance. Additionally, he confirms that the players have indeed spoken to at least three of them in the past.
For now, the players shouldn't worry too much about all of the different possible versions of Tyler and instead focus on what's in front of them.
Awhile back, we gained access to a “kill switch”. Can you tell us what effect using it actually had?
slinky what
OH SHIT
YO PROD DONT TAKE THAT AS AN ACTUAL MOVEMENT JUST AS A MEME
DONT KILL ANYONE
this is just expected
He’s used to accidentally fucking up.
i dont really have the power to kill
well i guess i do as much as you or anyone else
but not on the level of someone say like BUP
but anyway
the kill switch
ill quote a nice old man
"Will you 'turn off the power' so to speak. Will you kill it?. That poor amalgamation of a soul. That sick creature trying to control it for her will. Ben. Tyler. BEN. Mr.D also works. It was one title it went under."
even i dont fully understand the kill switch
but it did two things
temporarily cut luna off from our realm
and "killed" mr d
"Rem - Kayd H.Can you really be sure that killing It will make it stop though?"
its more like tenebris’s current formation in that point in time was disrupted
the amalgamation died but the idea and entity persevered
again, to my understanding
he controls the giants
after the kill switch was activated, they all dispersed and luna’s summoning was halted
i mean they did all disappear one at a time from the page
until kelbris gave his farewell speech
I dont think its something you can simply replicate, though
but uh yeah
thats what the kill switch did
fucked up tenebris and stopped luna for a bit
The Producer addresses something that's been confusing the players for a while now - what exactly did the Kill Switch do? As a reminder, the Kill Switch was the poll that the players voted in near the end of "The Truth Arc" on Youshouldnthavedonethat.net. According to The Producer, the Kill Switch did two things - it destroyed Tenebris's amalgamation of "Mr. D" and it halted Luna's attempt to destroy the world with The Four Giants. However, The Producer implies that there may be more to the Kill Switch - he claims that it was rather complex and he doesn't fully understand it himself.
You say we’re under attack from multiple factions. Are you BUP Bois one of them? Cus like... this is a pretty weird attack.
if BUP chooses to attack then thats on him
The Producer specifies that BUP's group doesn't really have a single unified goal - they're more of a collection of individual each pursuing their own goals. However, some of these may overlap.
On December 4th, 2019, The Producer continued chatting with the players.
yknow that weirdo pepperoni truth analogy you made a while back
maybe about 42.3%?
its hard to put an exact number to
once the veil is pierced, things will start cascading
speaking of spooky how about this
dec 31st 9:40
just shining a light on whats already known
or maybe forgotten
The Producer claims that things will begin to cascade once "the veil is pierced", though what exactly this means is unknown... For the time being, he brings their attention to a specific time and date in 2016 - one that correlates with the discovery of a chatlog on Youshouldnthavedonethat.net. This chatlog detailed how Alex began acting strange after interacting with the Libro Lunarus. It also alluded to the fact that Tenebris was intending on using SKM as a host-body at some point. However, why exactly The Producer is pointing this out is unknown...
Later that night, TheLaw also chatted with the players.
And that one of the things might be Tenebris
It’s hard to figure out where you guys are at. What do you all call your wiki?
I’m sure the new kid could give it to me, but he’s away.
I can’t promise it wouldn’t, though I’m no longer anywhere near being able to carry that out at the moment.
Im wary of that as a promise
wouldnt us giving you the wiki tell you what we dont know?
which could potentially be an advantage for you?
I’m sure the others know much more than you know. I know a lot less than they do, and therefore I feel I know a little less than you all as a whole.
I’m more of a bullet. I get told to do something, and get pointed in a direction, and I carry out what is asked of me.
I think that’s the best way to explain my role in this to you lot.
Be careful asking questions you know the answer to.
Our wiki would barely help you, it’s like 90% speculation and 10% shitposts.
TheLaw seems interested in looking over the Johnisdead Wiki. However, the players are reluctant to give it to him - fearing that it may lead to a "Bomb Plans" situation. As a reminder, this is referencing the player ARGdov presenting the "Bomb Plans" to Doug near the end of the YSHDT Arc, leading to them losing contact with him. TheLaw references this as well, claiming that he no longer has the amount of power and influence needed to have that sort of effect. In fact, he seems rather uninformed on recent events - he's simply here to act as a "Bullet" for BUP.
you know a lot less than they do about whats going on
doesnt that bother you?
you're working for people who are not sharing all the information
you're working with people who are involved in a conspiracy involving cults, time travel, cyber ghosts, alternate dimensions, and the occasional bout of supernatural magic
and one of them has killed at least once and may again
I’m the law. I’m not a lawmaker.
At one point I did know everything that there was to know.
I’m happy knowing what I do now.
do you remember anything from before?
I’m not sure what I should tell you and what I shouldn’t. As it stands, you all haven’t been open to share information with me.
I wasn’t aware that was the situation at first, so I’m going to refuse to answer unless given express permission.
I have to carry out a task. I hope you guys remain lawful.
Maybe talk to the new kid about this. He seems like he might have taken a liking to you lot.
Excuse me while I carry out my mission to bomb the next building.
TheLaw once again alludes to the fact that he once held a position similar to BUP - one where he knew nearly all that there was to know. However, he seems rather content with his current role - despite it being lesser. He also seems to take no issues with his role as BUP's enforcer, claiming that he's the law - not the lawmaker. TheLaw also confirms that he is indeed the same "thelaw" who led the players to YSHDT.com. However, he refuses to reveal who he was before he became known as "TheLaw".
On December 6th, 2019, The Producer spoke with the players once again.
how’s it feel to be called prod
Prod the Rod
how about this
march 17, 2:00
This new timestamp is from "The Truth Arc" - specifically the night when Drowned sent the "Please Help" videos. However, in addition to those videos, Drowned also posted a message about SKM being offered to Tenebris as a host-body. Considering the fact that both of the timestamps posted by The Producer include this detail, it's likely that he's trying to point the players towards this fact for some reason...
Meanwhile, the players begin questioning The Producer about a variety of different esoteric subjects, causing him to respond as follows:
im just the producer
but I have recently learned I do have the power to kill
to some extent
How did you "learn” that?
alright who has died in the past few days
im just jokin
kinda
its not like i literally put a gun to his head or anything
his death was already decided long ago
I just sifted the muddled waters
this was a situation where someone was always meant to die but I decided why not cut em off a little bit sooner
its better this way
its a shame it had to happen to him
do you really wanna know who it was
killed her twice
that joke would’ve been a lot funnier if you hadn’t revealed it was a man you killed about three sentences ago
unless they were actually a man this whole time
DUN DUN DUN
DUN DUN
anything is possible
Concerningly, The Producer claims to have discovered that he actually DOES possess similar retroactive-killing abilities like BUP. However, the individual he "killed" was someone who was already destined to die - The Producer just made it happen a little bit sooner. Additionally, The Producer claims that this happened sometime over the past few years and that it's "better this way".
As a reminder, this type of "killing" isn't the same as traditional murder - it's simply the act of revealing that your presence or will retroactively influenced it taking place. For example - BUP didn't change the timeline so that Yuukichan was dead - she was already dead in the first place, BUP just revealed that he had led to it happening. This is likely the same situation with The Producer - The Producer didn't literally go back in time and kill someone - this individual was already dead to begin with, he just influenced the fact that it occurred at all.
Overall, the specifics of this don't matter too much - whoever The Producer "killed" had already been dead for years regardless. The important takeaway from this reveal is that The Producer's power and influence seems to be growing.
This chapter covered a number of new characters and concepts. It's probably best to establish some new terminology so that things don't become too confusing moving forward.
- BUP's Group - A group seemingly led by BUP. They are presumably attempting to "hack reality" somehow - though they each have their own goals as well. It contains roughly seven members, though this number fluctuates as members come and go. It has supposedly existed "since the beginning".
- BUP - The "leader" of the group. He holds a great deal of power and is near-omniscient. He claims to be within every version of the Internet Detectives.
- IIIII - The supposed "boss" of BUP's Group, though it's unknown who or what exactly "IIIII" is referring to given the symbol's vague nature. Supposedly holds more power than BUP.
- The Producer - A newcomer to the group. He enjoys producing things and supplies BUP with whatever is asked of him. He enjoys chatting with the players.
- The Law - An older member who has returned to the group after coming out of retirement. He once held BUP's position and power. However, he's now just one of BUP's tools.
Given the complex nature of these entities - as well as the fact that they all seem to be relatively knowledgeable about not only the world of Johnisdead but various meta-related aspects of the ARG - we've decided to classify them as "Layered Beings".
Over the next few weeks, The Produce would continue to showcase his power - as well as assist the players in a rather unique way. However, before we can cover this, we need to cover a side-story that we've been neglecting throughout this chapter - the mysterious circumstances surrounding Erika and her unexplained knowledge of both Tyler and Johnisdead as a whole...
