The story so far...
In the previous section, Erika rejoined the Internet Detectives Discord server. This allowed the players to interrogate her about her exclusive Johnisdead footage. She revealed that she actually obtained the footage from the Quiet Family YouTube channel, which she implied was actually owned by Max. However, she warned that the players shouldn't try to contact him because he's supposedly very paranoid. How exactly Max's spirit ended up within the Quiet Family YouTube channel from the Bullet Necklace is a mystery...
Erika then began acting strange, deleting messages and speaking in codes. During all of this, the IIIII account began a countdown. Fearing that Erika is in danger and being censored, the players added her to the Safest Haven Discord server - something she took great pride in, believing it made her a true actualized Johnisdead player. Erika begins speaking more openly with the players. She revealed her "secret" that allows her to get "closer" to Tyler - she is a psychic. By using her psychic abilities, Erika can hear voices that whisper esoteric truths and fortunes about various different people. She then began showcasing these powers with various different characters.
Erika first used her powers on BUP, claiming that he is "On the edge of the sphere - almost in his own bubble". She also claims that BUP is "Very foreign yet very close to home." As for SKM, Erika hears many different voices speaking about him. They imply that SKM is undergoing some sort of transformation. It also seems as though SKM will eventually have some sort of frightful encounter with someone described as the "Glad One".
The players then ask about the Mannequin Entity. Erika implies that this entity is actually meant to represent Ben. She claims that the Mannequin Entity is inherently good and sweet. However, it's also been influenced and corrupted by malicious forces - not too unlike how Tenebris used Ben as a conduit. However, there may be more to the Mannequin Entity because Erika also describes it as "emanation" and an "energy sink"...
Finally, Erika is asked about the "IIIII". She describes "IIIII", or the "Five Lines", as a very complex and dynamic symbol. She likens it to the Kabbalah - likely in the sense that each "I" within "IIIII" represents a different concept - each one being closer to divinity than the one before it. Erika says that the "IIIII" can be used to represent archetypes and different "layers of being". However, they can also be used to represent individuals - as seen with the Rune Entity being "IIII" and Tenebris being "I".
Later on, Erika partook in a rather lengthy discussion about Gerard Way - the lead vocalist of My Chemical Romance. This discussion centered around various synchronicities related to both Gerard Way and Johnisdead - mainly the repeated significance of "423", "Dead", and "Drowning". Erika believes that the existence of these sorts of coincidences are a form of magic in-and-of themselves - something that was supposedly told to her by a mysterious individual whose name sounds similar to "Sink"... However, towards the end of this conversation, Erika seemingly discovered that all of her conversations were being logged on the Johnisdead Wiki. She seemed upset by this, asserting that she was not a character but instead a real person.
Meanwhile, the players contended with two new entities - WintertideDreams and HarvestMemories. While Wintertide mostly posted cryptic images of distorted assets, Harvest cryptically spoke about the past and nostalgia in general. They also seemed to put a large focus on "Weenie-Licked" - the Within Hubris-themed webcomic created by the player Wolfcat. This same webcomic had been mentioned previously throughout the ARG.
Eventually, the two entities fused into one, creating WintertideMemories. Here, it was revealed that they were both simply parts of The Producer - different layers of his own existence. He supposedly allowed them to speak with the players as a sort of test - an attempt to train the players' thinking for what's to come. According to The Producer, other entities such as "IIIII" also follow this same sort of logic - mainly in the sense that they consist of different entities representing different layers of existence - to some extent, at least.
The Producer then departs, claiming that he needs to focus on his productions. While the players were slowly beginning to understand the complex, esoteric entities that surrounded them, they still had many more trials to face before they'd obtain the complete truth...

Shortly after The Producer left the Internet Detectives Discord server on December 28th, 2019, TheLaw arrived to make an important announcement.
A tournament of souls will be held soon.
And what does that mean?
And more importantly, when?
It means the winner of such an event will have some tangible effect on the future.
Maybe tonight. Maybe tomorrow. I'm not sure when.
Whenever enough of the participants are in the same area, the battle will emerge.
I'll do my due diligence and provide some form of visible representation of the tournament.
If I may still ask, what will the tournament consist of?
The essences of the strongest spirits amongst the participants will be condensed and pit against each other.
Representations of these souls will be weaved, and locked away in an electronic prison, forced to see it through until the strongest is the only one that is left.

TheLaw announces that he will soon be conducting a "Tournament of Souls". During this tournament, representations of the players' souls will be locked inside an electronic prison and presumably fight one another. The winner of this tournament will be awarded the opportunity to have some sort of "tangible effect on the future", though what this means exactly is unknown.
On December 29th, 2019, the IIIII account became active and cryptically posted a single "I"... Shortly after this, TheLaw continued chatting with the players.

I have found a means of providing visual representation, though the visuals I provide does not necessarily consist of what the battles actually constitute.

Shortly after this, TheLaw posted a link to Twitch - a streaming website mainly centered around gaming. Here, TheLaw was hosting his own livestream under an account titled "theheavyhandofthelaw". The game he was streaming was "Soul Calibur 6" - a fighting game where you could create your own custom characters.
So, to summarize... TheLaw had collected essences of the players' souls and locked them away inside an electronic prison where they will battle one another. It seemed as though Soul Calibur 6 was simply an arbitrary medium that TheLaw was using to depict this battle - it's not as though the players' souls were literally trapped within the game itself. Whoever's soul would prove itself to be the strongest would be chosen to have some sort of tangible effect on the future.

Summary
- This stream consists of nearly three hours of "Soul Calibur 6" gameplay as a representation of TheLaw's "Tournament of Souls".
- TheLaw warns that if someone is defeated too badly in-game then they might actually die in real life.

As explained previously, the Tournament of Souls consisted of electronic representations of the players' souls battling one another. This was represented through the game Soul Calibur 6. The stream mostly consisted of casual banter amongst the players as they watched their electronic counterparts battle one-another. However, TheLaw warned that if someone's in-game counterpart was damaged too badly then it could hurt their real-life counterparts as well...
Eventually, a winner was decided - the player Azura. As the winner of the Tournament of Souls, Azura would be given an opportunity to make some sort of significant decision at some point. According to TheLaw, this would give the players a chance to "stop the storm", as it were. Unfortunately, what this meant exactly was a bit vague... Additionally, the player Azura wasn't very active anymore. Regardless, the players seemed to have a good time.
After the main tournament ended, TheLaw conducted a series of bonus fights as well. These included representations of Tyler, Regiminis, Alex, Greth, and TheLaw himself. Tyler's representation did quite well, defeating both Regiminis and Alex. Sadly, he was later defeated by an in-game version of the YouTuber Jordi Wild... The final battle conducted was between Greth and TheLaw. Greth was ultimately the winner of this battle, causing the stream to come to an ominous and abrupt end...
One oddity that cropped up from this stream were the persistent similarities between TheLaw and the player Dawn. As a reminder, Dawn was the GM of the first arc of Johnisdead - the YSHDT Arc. When the arc came to a close, it was revealed that he was responsible for playing the roles of Helper, TheLaw, and The Man - speaking strictly in out-of-character terms, that is. While it's possible that the similarities between Dawn and TheLaw are insignificant byproducts of the player Dawn once again reprising his role behind the scenes, there are some hints that this similarity is intentional - mainly the fact that TheLaw's in-game character in the Tournament of Souls looked very similar to memetic depictions of Dawn.
Regardless of whether or not the connection between TheLaw and Dawn was intentional canon or simple coincidence due to out-of-character similarities, several players still picked up on it. However, what exactly this connection meant - if anything - was unknown. For the time being, the players simply decided to keep this information in the backs of their minds...
In the early hours of January 1st, 2020, the player Slinky welcomed the new year by submitting the "Elegy of Emptiness" twelve times in a row. This was obviously a shitpost that was made in reference to his accidental submissions in the past. However, it was dangerous nonetheless... Ominously, the "IIIII" account responded to this shortly afterwards by posting "ᛢᛢᛢᛢᛢ".
On January 3rd, 2020, BUP finally returned after a long absence and chatted with the players.

This is a clear allusion to the Rune Entity somehow being an alternate version of Tyler. BUP also implies that he is somehow "All the Greths" - to some extent, at least. This explains his previous comment about somehow being a member of every version of the Internet Detectives across every timeline.
This also possibly explains the existence of the strange alternate version of "Greth" who briefly appeared and taunted the players before the Pumpkinhead Gamejack. In retrospect, that "Greth" also held many similarities to BUP - they both taunted the players, they both spoke about esoteric magical concepts, and they both toyed with meta-aspects of the ARG. Because of this, we can safely assume that BUP was also that alternate "Greth". As such, here is our current list of Greths:
- Prime Greth
- Origin: Prime Timeline
- Description: Previous friend of the players and owner of Greth Vlogs. Was involved in the "Circle of Three" and visited a pond near the Fishery. He later met Tyler and became possessed by Patrem.
- Status: Unknown. Presumably still possessed by Patrem. He was last seen confronting Tyler in 2019. BUP recently allowed a version of him from 2016 to speak through Discord.
- Moonman
- Origin: Astral Timeline
- Description: Greth's Astral Timeline. Unlike his Prime Timeline counterpart, Moonman never partook in the "Circle of Three", visited the Fishery pond, met Tyler, or become possessed by Patrem. Instead, he joined the Astral Observatory to investigate the deaths of the Astral Internet Detectives.
- Status: Safe, presumably. He was recently rescued from the Astral Observatory in mid-2019. BUP recently allowed a version of him from 2016 to speak through Discord.
- BUP
- Origin: Unknown
- Description: A malicious version of Greth who is somehow connected to every other Greth in existence. He holds a great amount of power and meta-related knowledge regarding the ARG. He also enjoys toying with the players.
- Status: Active. He's currently leading his own group of other Layered Beings in an attempt to somehow "hack reality".
The players were relieved to finally possess some information about BUP. Unfortunately, there were still many mysteries surrounding him... What was his ultimate goal exactly? What did he mean by wanting to "hack reality"? Where was his true origin? How was it possible for him to be connected to all of his alternate timeline counterparts? How did he possess so much power and information? While the players didn't have answers to any of these questions, they at least now had a foundation to stand on.
This reveal also held some interesting implications regarding the nature of BUP's Group. So far, each member seemed to hold some connection to the GM's of Johnisdead.
- BUP - Alternate version of Greth.
- The Producer - Unknown, though he often references Wolfcat's webcomic.
- TheLaw - Holds many similarities to Dawn.
- IIIII - The "Rune Entity", or "IIII", is another version of Tyler.
While many of these connections are tenuous at best, it's still worth pointing out and possibly explains how these "Layered Beings" possess meta-related knowledge and powers... Unfortunately, there wasn't much else to go on regarding this theory and what all it implied for both BUP's Group and the ARG as a whole was still unclear... Still, just like with TheLaw's similarities with Dawn, it was an interesting connection that the players decided to take note of.
Later that night, the IIIII account became active once again. However, this time it was acting a bit strange...

Interestingly, SKM seems hesitant to finish his initial statement claiming that he's "in the flesh". It's possible that, given the odd environment of the Parallelos, even he's not entirely about the current state of his existence...
